Help Tasker and S3 Don't get along....

Isn't Call Volume the volume of the earpiece when you are actually in a call, and not the ringer volume?

Anyone know if it's possible to have tasker turn on/off power saving mode? Or better yet, individual parts of power saving mode, namely the maximum cpu option.

No its not. Tasker works with generic android functions. It can't add manufacturer specific functions. That would take forever.

Tasker can alter cpu functions though, but you need root. By that time you may aswell have setcpu

It works! Thanks dude. That was the missing key.

It has fixed the notification bug as well. Brilliant. :D

EDIT: My phone now feels more like a computer!

So for Tasker to work on a Galaxy S3 your have to have root? What does the S3 do to make it different from every other Adroid phone that simply cooperates with Tasker?

Guess Sammy copied Apple as far as the ability to control your phone too.. :(

I have found several 'glitches' with Tasker and the GS3. Enough that I am about to disable Tasker and move on. Enough to give me another reason to really dislike the S3. Sad day.

Can't control keyguard.
Can't control Pattern lock.
My 'Tasks' shortcuts don't work. (I have sleep, wake, and meetings). None function
Can't change ringer volume for specific users. (Used in conjunction with Sleep and Mtgs above)

Because of above, I now don't trust Tasker. This makes me use it less, and the cycle continues...

Everything works that I throw at it. Except pattern lock which as mentioned, needs a plugin that needs root.

The other thing is the led off doesn't work. Most led apps don't work properly on the s3

I am using liteflow lite and it works quite well with the s3. It has a sleep mode option which puts the led off during a specific time period which is kinda cool.

has anyone experienced crashes/instability with the Tasker UI on the SGS3? The profiles seem to work OK, it's just the interface disappearing sometimes immediately, sometimes a minute after starting the program.

I've tried varuous things including installing another ROM. SGS3 Foxhound, rooted, Secuire Settings + helper installed.

I have not experienced any problems with Tasker crashing so far.

No. Me neither.

Does one have to root in order for screen brightness to be altered? I want screen brightness to go close to max when I open certain apps but I found that doesn't seem to work...

Not that I'm aware off...

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong then... I have when the phone is car docked to Display -> Display Brightness -> Level 207, Immediate Effect, and Ignore Current Level.

When I test it, it will get bright for a second and then go back to default. I have the brightness set to go up on certain apps open too but it doesn't work. Not sure why.

I find different brightness profiles, even when not active, conflict with each other. Test disabling the others first

Didn't work unfortunately. Deleted my car dock one and just left the apps one. Tested it and the screen when bright for a second and dimmed right back down to default..

I haven't rooted my phone, yeah it is kinda strange that it works for some people and not others. However, in my experiences it only glitches when i get an sms, email, or phone call. Hopefully with an update or two tasker will perform better with Galaxy S3 phones. Unless someone smarter than me has found the fix.

an off topic question, but does anyone know how to setup a profile for weekdays during specific times?

i've tried creating a profile with a start and end time, then a task "if %DAYW ~ Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday" but this doesn't work.

and i've tried creating a profile for weekdays, then a task "if %Time ~ 15:00" and this doesn't work either.

You're way over thinking it. Just have 2 contexts. The first is times. The second, days. This way both contexts must be met to activate the profile. It acts as an AND.

Yes, I do use this :)
