Taskillers or No

Do you run taskillers or just let the phone go as is?

I run one and as the day goes on, i notice the memory go down from 100ish to 40's...

Do we need to run one?
 
I am of the belief that task killers are not needed on a regular basis using Android. I believe they serve their purpose to kill the random rogue app that is sucking your battery down or wasting your CPU cycles, but nothing more. :)

That being said, there are plenty of people out there who will sing the praises of task killers. I am just not one of them. ;)
 
The Android's system isn't designed to have the tasks killed or "X" out *windows cough-cough*

they aren't needed and if you kill the wrong task you could end up BRICKING YOUR PHONE!!! jk :D

they really aren't needed tho. the system does a pretty good job in memory and managing the tasks and apps you have open to keep things snappy!
 
Yes, you even state that you see memory go down. Same reason I see a need for one. I see the phone respond faster after killing apps.

Memory go down? Who said that? Whenever you kill something it'll stay dead for about five minutes then that lil green robot thing revives it AGAIN. Try it yourself. Thats android baby!
 
Personally, I use SystemPanel. It's by far the best task MANAGER. It has the "kill all" feature, but really isn't needed. Also, I've noticed lately that if I am just lazy and use the kill all, sometimes my phone restarts or begins to reload everything as if I just rebooted it. The memory is gonna get used whether something is running or not, so you might as well let the OS do it's job (it loads programs based on whether it thinks you're gonna use them or not... I think) so you don't have to waste battery doing it yourself later.

Look at it this way, I say they aren't needed. Also, since I'm awesome, my vote counts for like 72 normal votes so case closed...
 
i have a task killer, but only run it every once in a while (such as i opened an app and it had some issue and backing out doesn't close it completely). i don't use any sort of "auto" task killers, and honestly see no difference when i do kill out apps using the task killer from a performance standpoint. i see more of a difference clearing out my cache.
 
I use Estrongs to get rid of a few pesky apps. That's about it. I tried Taskiller, Advanced something, and all they did was burn thru battery. Quit using them and all of a sudden it was faster and the battery lasted longer.
