Help taskmaster/ running tasks issue

Hey Android Nation,

I am new to androids...switched over from bb to a skyrocket just a few days ago.

My concern is, how do I properly shut off an app?
Do I have to go into the task manager after using every app to make sure it has exited?
Lastly, how often should I "clear RAM" in the task manager?
Will clearing the RAM shut down apps like Launcher PRO? Im afraid to try it.

I know some apps like Pandora come with an exit option in their menu but most do not have that option so I am confused as to how I am supposed to go about this to avoid apps running in the background and draining my battery because I didnt exit properly.

i switched from bb as well a week ago monday

should have done it a week ago 3 years ago..

answer to your question there is an "app" built in called active applications..
on about the 2nd or third screen

move it to home page
it tells you how many are running.
click on it and kill all with one press of the button..

relatively painless process but saves lots of time..

I kick myself for not migrating a couple of years ago... but suspect if i did i would have HAD TO GET an iphone...

now i am just waiting for ICECREAM SANDwich to run the skyrocket...

should make lots of things easier....

YMMV

this works wonderfully..but

1. any widget added to your home screen is a constant running process, too many of these and you will see wake locks and battery issues

2. the answer to the question..to properly exit an app (most anyway) press the back button until you reach the home screen.
