Holy cow! I hate to say this guys, but I tested this and found the same issue as op. 3 bars (-83dBm) when i hold it by the kickstand and 1 bar (-90dBm to -95dBm) with my hand cupped around it normaly. 0 bars (-101dBm) if I cover the top or bottom as well (abnormal grip). Haven't experienced any dropped calls or poor quality though. This is with the VZW combo case thing on.
Retested with the case off and results where much more sporadic and much less dramatic. Problem with the case?
Also, the faraday cage I built doesn't boost signal as expected. I guess its back to the drawing board...
