TBolt question for a friend

Hello TBolt users...this Epic 4G user has a question for a friend.

With my Epic I can email apps to people via the appmanager in Astro File Manager or Adao File Manager. I go to the app I want to send, long press it and click on send. Piece of cake!

Unfortunately, my friend has downloaded both of those apps and says that "appmanager" does not show up in his listing, so he's unable to email apps like I can.

So how is this accomplished with the TBolt?

TIA!

I own a Tbolt. I don't have the "appmanager" button, but I can send files by long pressing.

Well it's not a "button", it's a listing that I go into to bring up the apps. Can you give me a detailed description of how you do it with the Tbolt so I can share it with him?

Every stock Thunderbolt comes with an app called App Sharing. Open the app and it lists every app you have on your phone. Then you can send it to Facebook, Twitter, SMS, MMS, gMail, etc

Correct. I was just coming here to post that!

So is there a way to attach .apk to an email and send it to someone?

I've never tried before but I figured I would try for you earlier. I can attach and mail an apk using Root Explorer (if your rooted) but for some reason by the time it gets delivered there is no APK attached. I'll keep playing and see if I can figure anything out for you.

EDIT: Same thing in Astro, you can find and long press the APK and tell it to "Send" but by the time it arrives to the recipient there is no file....

Ok if rooted, with Root explorer you can long press an APK, zip it and then email, then unzip on receipt and you have the APK. Complicated enough for you? :D

LOL! Thanks for the help...my friend it's rooted & doesn't have the faintest idea how to do it...so I guess it's a no go.

Oh well....

Appreciate it!

Btw, when I tried to email my friend the .apk for Astro File Manager and Adao File Manager the emails arrived with no .apk attached. Must be a TBolt or Verizon thing. Or both....

It's a press and hold, just like on any other phone. App Manager is available from the menus, for uninstalls and backups. There is no send option in App Manager.

To send an app, navigate the directories to the app, long press on it, then choose send.

Whether .apks are blocked is hard to say, but if a market link isn't good enough for you to share with your friend, then I don't want to offer much more help.

Well thanks for chiming in...much appreciated.

Kinda tough to share non-market apps with a link to the market though, no?

;)
