Tea Party Cheers For Death of Uninsured Man

The idea of the government FORCING free citizens to pay for health insurance is comical to me and the fact that you support it saddens me. Why would the government care about addressing the REAL problem (medical costs) when it would mean money out of the pocket of their largest lobbyists (medical & insurance)? Instead it would allow care givers to charge even MORE than they do now and since insurance companies don't have to work to earn business it would mean costs would go up and coverages would go down. Sounds like the fleece has been successfully deployed if all you sheep believe this to be the solution. Apply this same logic to ANY other sector and tell me how it works. Help me undestand why health care would be any different.

If health insurance was the real answer then why are SO many people with health insurance STILL having to file bankruptcy due to medical expenses?

You got me, people do die regardless of their monetary resources.:(

The issue is some die prematurely because they lack the means to prevent early death.

I conjecture that the lack of health insurance persuades many not to seek medical care in a timely matter due to the fear of not being able to afford said care. This fear helps to foster greater medical expenditures in heroic efforts to save said individual that could have been avoided with more timely medical attention.

I think you are correct. That said, if you discover a lump, fissure, boil, or other sign that something is wrong, when it is discovered that you suffer from a serious condition, is it fair to ask us to pay for you? Especially if you knew something was wrong?

Lifestyle contributes to problems down the road and indeed, we need affordable care for one and all. That will happen when logical and sensible reforms take place. But some will still suffer and that can't be prevented.

Well we already do, usually on ER and often too late, inefficient, and expensive.

Better preventive care, i.e. education is a logical and sensible reform. No system created is perfect is no reason not to attempt for perfection.

To be clear, you are not forced to purchase auto insurance. Only required if you drive and it is there to protect the public. As for health care, it will cost everyone about 2500.00 and it will be collected by the IRS. Unless the plan is overturned, that is.

There are some good reasons that all citizens should pay for certain things. For instance, the government builds roads and those roads are paid for by tax dollars. No one has the option of choosing to hold back some taxes because they choose not to pay for a particular road. The same for the military. The government pays for it through tax dollars it collects from citizens. You are all forced to pay for these things.

As for health care, Tommy Douglas in my country decided it was something worth providing for all citizens and paid through taxes. When he became premier of the province of Saskatchewan, he enacted legislation to provide health care for all in that province. Eventually, the federal goverment some time later did that for the rest of Canada.

The medical coverage does not cover everything. There are additional costs for certain procedures that individuals have to pay for themselves or through extended medical coverage. You don't get everything. There are health care providers who provide this additional coverage.

Thanks for making my point; US DOT, the Military & the Canadian Health Care system are all models of efficiency where no waste exists and everyone gets what they need when they need it. No way will the government mess up health care with this same type of inefficiency & overspending in all the wrong places. Just what the US economy needs right now.. more government programs!

Call a dentist office after hours and listen carefully to the recording you get. Not sure where you live but around here (and everywhere I've lived) dentists leave an emergency number for after hours emergencies. Don't forget, dentists are doctors as well. There's not too many reasons to go to an ER for tooth pain.

I personally have never gone to an ER for tooth pain, but you have obviously been lucky enough to never have experienced severe tooth pain. What if you don't have a dentist because you can't afford it? Most won't help you if you aren't already their patient. It would be foolish to because anyone looking to get high could call up and get a prescription.

What real life experiences do you base ANY of this post on? Most importantly, where do you get off saying that most dentists won't help you if you aren't already their patient? Also, where do you get off assuming I've never had tooth pain? Y

Maybe you don't read what I said so let me help you:

MY MOTHER WAS DIAGNOSED WITH STAGE IV BREAST CANCER!

Kind of hard for you to keep making up scenarios calling me cold if my real life story is the same as your made up scenarios, isn't it? You want to know the funny part? She didn't go at first because she didn't have health care and was worried about how she was going to be able to afford it. Then she got health coverage (through the USPS... that's right... GOVERNMENT HEALTH CARE) and went in and it almost cost her her life because she waited. Then, the best part... her insurance didn't cover most of it. The Komen foundation paid for her entire initial procedure (bilateral mastectomy) which was six figures and even with all that... she still lost everything. She got fired because she couldn't go back to work soon enough for them. She lost her home and everything she worked for because of a sickness and she was insured. The asnwer is NOT insurnace and it sure as shit isn't government sponsored insurance.
