Telus - htc desire 2.2

Hell yeah if htcsense becomes available for the Desire, I'm gonna try and grab that, Gingrebread might not be released for the Desire but will likely appear on XDA and Modaco or whatever.

After installing the OTA 2.09.405.8 I immediately got a prompt for update to 2.10.405.2 but I didn't bother, so the OTA from RUU even with a goldcard are directly from HTC.

I'm running 2.09.405.8 and didn't get any notification for 2.10.405.2. I tried being on Wifi to manually update and my gold card is in there but still nothing. How do those come directly from HTC?

I don't know, it's the official RUU WWE that's in the Froyo RUU update thread, I did this a month ago (late Sept) and got the prompt, don't know why it doesn't work for you unless the goldcard isn't working (some SD cards don't accept goldcards). I was using the standard 8GB Samsung SDcard that came with the Desire.

Its the same gold card I used to flash the ROM in the first place, not sure how thats possible.

I believe it is directly from HTC not Telus. So when Sense 2.0 hits and Gingerbread HTC will make it work properly with the Desire and then release it as an unbranded version. Everything else will go to the respective carriers.

Yes, my bad. I meant to say HTC of course. No one would take me seriously if I said they'd start getting updates from Telus!!

CRAP!!! I ran UnRevoked already so the OTA update won't work. Why did I do that!?

If anyone has a suggestion of how to get back to stock, that would helpful.

EDIT:
"FroYo OTA failed to verify whole-file signature"

EDIT #2:
If you have rooted your phone there is a work around:

EDIT #3:

Made it through the update the first time, then the phone was stuck at the white HTC logo screen and would reboot in an endless loop. So I went back through the workaround again and got a different Recovery mode.

Rebooting.....

Rebooting.....

HTC logo screen...

QUIETLY BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!

Unlocked and...uhh...reboot?

HTC Logo....

"Congratulations! Your phone has been Updated"!!

THANK YOU Al Gore for inventing the internet.
Yeah I just got ahold of an older rooted 2.1 Desire which got the update prompt and noticed the update failed after reboot and I pressed "menu" which brought up the clockworkmod screen and I turned on signature verification and selected download/TELUS_WWE image and it flashed no problems.

Now it's running 2.25.661.2

I notice there's a software version difference between the latest HTC RUU and the Telus update. I wonder what the actual differences are - can someone with a Telus Update compare to a non-Telus update? And also if that number is the Telus version of software and not an official HTC version.

So far I can't tell the difference, there is however a full version of Shazam on the Telus one, can't really see any other differences so far maybe it has a few bug fixes over the stock RUU.

I have it, its a 90 mb file, that took me a couple minutes to download, installed perfectly, so far its amazing :)

The baseband, kernel and build number are different from the Stock Ruu, since I am not a developer or anything like that I do not know if that means anything or not???

Baseband version is different - 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2
Kernel Version is different - 2.6.32.15-g6a358a9
Build number - 2.10.405.2 CL226611 release-keys
Software number 2.10.405.2

Curious to know what the significance is in the different Baseband and Kernel Versions, mostly the Baseband.

Whoa, since the Desire I updated was previously a rooted 2.1, it still has Superuser.apk on it and it appears in the drawer and there's no way of removing it now. LOL so be careful before updating if you're already rooted (you could boot into clockwork and remove the apk from /system/app).

I just got the official update...all went very smoothly. Here's to it working properly from here on. I think all that complaining to Telus and HTC might have worked!

What he said!
:D
I bought mine from a BestBuy 2 days after launch, unlocked it 2 days later, and use it on Rogers. I've been running Froyo for over a month using the RUU update and it's great. If I was on Telus, I still would have done the update and not bothered with Telus' version.

which RUU did you use? Im trying to use this: one...RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8_Radio_32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed

...and im not having any luck. My phone is currently rooted with Unrevoked 3.21. I made a goldcard and tried looking for an OTA update, and to my surprise it found it...but it wont install because of the root. So im trying unroot my phone, but ive had no luck finding a method in which to do so.

Please help

Did you see the post I made earlier, it works even if you're rooted. Did you get to the black screen with the "!"? hit menu and the clockworkmod or whatever custom boot you flashed will come up and you can disable signature verification then run the download/file.zip again via the "install from zip" option.

That depends on what your waiting for and if the wait is worthwhile!!!! If it is the Telus update to Froyo then thank you NO.

so i updated to the stock froyo RUU of 2.2 the other night and everything is going great. one thing that htc stripped out of that version is bluetooth dialing, which was a major selling point of android 2.2. from googling i found out that htc's stance on that is that they only disabled bluetooth voice dialing outside of north america.

so i was wondering, to those who grabbed the update through telus, do you now have full bluetooth command control like you would on a motorola razr from 5 years ago? or is it disabled like in the stock 2.2 ruu that is floating around.

thanks

I do not have the Telus update but I do have the Bluetooth dialing with the Stock Ruu, do not know how or why but I can do it with my Nokia headset and my Motorola Bluetooth S9 headset!!!

So I did the update on Saturday with the gold card route with this image: RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.10.405.2_R_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_142828_signed,

but my wife got the OTA update.

One thing that I like about hers over mine is that holding the home button shows the last 8 apps run, instead of the last 6 apps on mine.

Is there a way to undo mine so i can accept the OTA update instead, or is there a newer HTC Froyo RUU that we can use?

LOL yeah i was one of the people that bitched about it.. I must of called 2-3 times a day. At least they did get it out before Nov 1st, well wait they kinda sorta did. Never the less they did get the update out and its amazing.

OCT 31: Though has THE BEST TELUS REP in my mind, she went way further then the call of duty. We talked she explained the issue, it was ready but they found an issue with the market, and rather the update messing up everyone phone they pulled back, but come Noon Nov 1st(my time) she sent me a text message letting me know the update was available. Props to her.
Even though i checked at 7am and WOW it was there :) i thought i was going to see the same message we been seeing, no updates...

Um...I updated mine with 2.09 and I see 8 apps running instead of 6, and you should be seeing that too. If you're running 2.10 not sure if you can downgrade. Not sure if this will help but try referring back to this thread on downgrading.
