Telus - htc desire 2.2

Unfortunately that is the only way to get the latest radio updates because the OTA updates do not include the latest radio only the updated changes to the firmware on the phone!!! All you need do is download the Ruu for 2.10 and run it, it only took five minutes for my update to 2.10. As long as you have the gold card in the phone you should have no problem's at all. When I did my updates Teppic did not have the SD card update process so I had to download the Ruu to my computer and do it.Nothing difficult at all about it!!!

Wouldn't this wipe your phone settings and apps again?

I guess I misunderstood how goldcards work ... I thought they were specific to your device's internal ID numbers. So does that mean the goldcard I made to install the 2.2 RRU can't be used by my device again?

Related to this, when Gingerbread comes out, will I make a new goldcard, and then just install the RRU like I did for 2.2?

The Goldcard you made can be used to do all updates with your phone, the Goldcard is tied to the specific number on the card not the phone. I would say keep the Goldcard in your phone always that way you will not have to remember to put it in the phone before updating, the only reason for two Goldcards is a backup card just incase something happens to the card in the phone and it becomes corrupted!!!

There is no need to worry about the Goldcard, you have already made it and it is in your phone all updates should go very smoothly even the update to 3.0 Gingerbread!!!!:D

Wouldn't this wipe your phone settings again?

Yes it would but it is the only way to get the latest radio firmware, sorry but it is the only way!!! If your phone is working fine with the radio firmware that you already have then there is no need to do it, I only did it because my phone needed a little improvement in the radio and making connection with AT&T, that is why I did it that way. If yours is fine then do not worry about it!!!:D

Yeah my connection to my APN data is fine, if thats what you're referring to as the "radio" I'm not sure what that is. hehe

Hey guys,

I havent been able to get mms working anymore once I've gone to 2.2. I'm on Telus and I was able to send picture messages all the time and not anymore. It just says failed sending.

You need to reinput the settings for the mms, that is why it is not connecting, sorry but since I am not on Telus I cannot help any further!!!

The radio is what makes the connection to your carrier for Voice and Data both, on initial start up my phone was taking a longer time than usual to connect to the AT&T network it was like it was searching for a signal to connect to, by doing the radio upgrade it now only takes a couple of seconds to connect!!!

Finally I used this thread: http://androidforums.com/htc-desire...pdate-windows-not-required-2.html#post1821190 to update to Froyo and it was a success !! I formatted my SD card while it was in my phone and everything was so quick and smooth. Now i'm setting up my phone, and applied the APN settings for Telus, its been 20 minutes or so and I still dont have the mobile network, kinda worried here :( any help ?

Update: the mobile network is working fine and I'm so happpyyy .. thnx guys and for those who waited for Telus 2.2 update like me till today and heard its not coming till Q4 or w/e, do the RUU, its very simple and easy and I dont think it voids your warranty

I was just about to reboot my phone to do the update, and I figured that I would check the OTA updates again (Settings->About Phone->Check for system updates) and Froyo was AVAILABLE FROM TELUS!!!! Phone is doing its thing right now, I will let you all know how it goes!

CRAP!!! I ran UnRevoked already so the OTA update won't work. Why did I do that!?

If anyone has a suggestion of how to get back to stock, that would helpful.

EDIT:
"FroYo OTA failed to verify whole-file signature"

EDIT #2:
If you have rooted your phone there is a work around:

EDIT #3:

Made it through the update the first time, then the phone was stuck at the white HTC logo screen and would reboot in an endless loop. So I went back through the workaround again and got a different Recovery mode.

Rebooting.....

Well i now have froyo on my HTC desire. Comes with some new apps that i can see off the bat like a flashlight apps that uses the camera flash as the light. Also there is now a video app, an app sharing app, news and weather app, voice search and wifi hotspot. I will post more info tomorrow morning of how it is going.

i do have one question, to do benchmark test and FPS test, what apps do you use???

Maybe you need to take out your gold card? Just a thought... I'm kinda a noob with this stuff.

For those of you who now have a TELUS branded version of 2.2, anything there from TELUS that's worth mentioning? Just their theme again?

Holy Shit, I Can download it Too!! WOo for Patience! Will get back to you all with how it goes. Thank you Telus for keeping us on our toes....

Edit: Not sure I should thank them....but woo 70% done downloading~

So far the phone has rebooted 3-4 times during the installation process and lastly greeted me with a

"Congratulations your HTC Desire has just been updated to 2.25.661.2." :D :D :D

Many of the Icons and Widgets seem to have more detail.

To answer your question, use "Quadrant Standard Edition" it's free and it's all you need... :)
