Telus - htc desire 2.2

All you "waiters" are crazy. Creating a gold card and flashing was ridic easy and I've been enjoying froyo for several weeks now. TELUS is just too slow with updates.

Has Gingerbread been confirmed for the Desire?...
 
Come now people, we've made it this far! We KNOW it'll be within a day or 3.....so lets hold out just a little longer. Go play Angry Birds or something. That reminds me....I hope plants vs zombies comes soon haha
 
I'm one of the can't wait people that went the gold card route. The update list looks pretty accurate. You'll also find that there is a microphone on some of the input screens (like Google Search and the Input Keyboard) for voice input.

Maybe someone can confirm that under 2.1 there used to be a Ringtone selection called "you" where you could record a ringtone? That seems to be gone from my unbranded 2.2 update.

Also, Vlingo Incar Beta is unusable after the update. It causes the Bluetooth interface to crash so much I had to uninstall it.

As far as I can tell the changes after flashing are as indicated in post #20 though addmitedly I haven't gone through them one by one to confirm.
 
Most of those listed in #20 are already in the 2.2 RUU, except perhaps the wifi fix (which is why I stuck with 2.09.405.8 instead of 2.10.405.2) along with a few other tweaks like volume, call volume on 2.1 was a bit too low. Call volume on CM6 can be deafening when maxed out, I found out the hard way.
 
there already is a plants vs zombies for the android

OPPS my mistake, it is a match game, i dont believe its really the game.
i think it would be very hard on a phone to play

Excellent. Speech to text is one of the changes that I am looking for. My Aria had it and it was quite functional.
 
Never gonna give you up Desire, cause this is exciting! Does anyone know how big the file is? I have spotty internet and don't want it to time-out or let me down halfway through. Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated! I can confirm that Telus did in fact say 'today' and this makes me cry. Hmm, won't it be posted on htc Telus support site? I would've assumed this to be the fastest method (as they've done for the Hero update today). Never-the-less, I can post when mine's updating/update too - in GTA region

Our website indicates the Android 2.2 software update will be available in
October. The information we have received today indicates it will be available
sometime in Quarter 4 (now until the end of December), as per Google's delay in
this software update.

well this is getting annoying. I am holding off downloading games because I need the SD to store my apps.

by time we get it Android 2.3 or maybe even 3.0 will be out

That is total horseshit... I honestly believe all Telus rep don't know shit and I hope this is the case as well.

I've been waiting for the official release as well and I'm getting pretty close to the unrevoked or goldcard methods.:mad:

Well, I can say this much. After October I'll be running Froyo no matter what. :D
 
Hi everyone, just remember TELUS does not know anything you have to almost ask for a SR rep, or after 5 mins say i want to talk to the complaint department.

If you want to know the real info on the software update dont ask telus ask the people that make the phone, HTC.

They are the ones that said it will be released this weekened, and that after i told them about telus, they told me they are going to start to enforce that telus knows their stuff so they dont piss people off.
