TELUS - SGS2x - Need a guide for dummies

Hey Guys,

I have read a lot around in this forum and it is really confusing with the T-Mobile version and it's also scary to do it for the first time without any knowledge about androids. I am a new android user and i really would appreciate some help in rooting & unlocking my
Samsung Galaxy SIIx by telus

Here are more information for my phone
Android Version 2.3.5
Model Number: SGH-T989D
Baseband: T989DTLKJ3
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.11
Build Number: Gingerbread.tlkj3

So my question is what,where and how to root my phone?
I have read that before i root it i have to do a back up of my phone correct?
I have been told to use the steps on the T-Mobile thread but while reading on that thread i have seen a lot of people having problems rooting it.
Is there anyone who can show me step by step and what to do, where to find it and how to do it. ( if it's possible please with screen shots )

I just made one for you! So far, I've made them for the Desire Z, Bell S2, and now the Telus S2. Step by step guide with pictures-written for new users in mind.

I bought an unlock code for my Telus and it worked instantly, no issues.

There are no updates as of yet but they will come probably.

Will your ultimate telus root guide work for My KOODO MOBILE Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989D running ICS 4.04? (assuming I use the new 3.07 superuser)

I've read a lot of guides but they've all been for the T-Mobile version or the Telus version
