Root temperature and lag question, cm7

savenas21

Lurker
Currently running latest cm7 rom, and the latest overclock kernel, with setcpu i use 122 minimum and 452mhz max half the day, the other half 1024 mhz max, governor is usually interactivex or smartassv2, phone is usually 29.6c after not using it for a while but after a few minutes of use it goes up to 34-35c average, and peaks at 39c, is this normal? Seems very laggy and unresponsive are times and also it will reboot 5 or 6 times after I plug it in a charger.
Also I use launcher pro, the least laggiest launcher I could find (please let me know if you know a better one)
I am considering doing a full wipe of phone, would this help?
Thanks in advance for any tips.

Seems kinda weird, a full wipe & reflash might be a good idea, also don't restore titanium data, instead do fresh app installs. Try interactive governor, which doesn't lock the clock to the min frequency when screen is off.

No wonder it's laggy and slow, he's using it at 452 MHz max. Lol. I don't see why you'd set it that low. At least give it 800.

Yeah no need to run max freq lower than 1024 Mhz, it takes longer to do anything, and the battery saving isn't worth it. (undervolting has more effect). When I set mine 122-1024 Interactive, CPU Spy shows most of my time is in deep sleep, followed by 122 Mhz (screen on, CPU idle), and then 3rd 1024 when it's actually processing, governor automatically ramps up to max).

Did a full wipe, everything is significantly better, can you list your undervolting for each clock speed? And is 35 an average temperature or too high?

On my phone I was able to undervolt 122-1024 mhz at the lowest value (but apparently the regulator has only 800 mV as lowest (no way to verify currently). I remember doing stability tests running at 10 minutes at a time and the temp never got above 30 C or so.

I'm back on TG's default CM7 kernel for touchscreen reliability issues, so don't have Undervolt feature anymore.

I do remember OCing to 1.8ghz just for the duration of a quadrant test, and to 1.3ghz interactive governor for 1-2 hrs at a time, is it possible I slightly fried my processor?

Your processor should be fine if that's all the OC you've done. "Slightly fried" processors will give a lot more errors, or not even boot. Keep in mind the temperature gauge is for the battery, not the CPU, so if another component is generating the heat or the battery itself, it's measuring that too.
