Help Terrible colors on s2 screen

Was loving my s2 until yesterday, when I loaded up some wedding photos to take to a friend. Yuk. Contrasty, over-saturated colours.

Putting it in movie mode helped a bit, but as-is the phone is totally unsuitable for viewing photographs. I've had a look in the forums and get the impression that this is normal for the s2.

Is there anyway of color profiling the s2 to correct this problem?

Yeah this bugs me too...love high contrast but it screws up photos no end. I have a photo of myself in a pale yellow v-neck...but on the gs2 it looks like I've just come back from
A 3 week holiday in Chernobyl. its the same reason why photographers/graphics drsigners by macbooks with matte screens instead of glossy. colour vibrancy and colour accuracy are mortal enemies...:(

Cinema mode is the only thing you can do to improve the situation. Saturation is ridiculous . I don't know if this is a product of OLED technology or not .. come to think if it those OLED TV demos always look saturated .. they always play a cartoon or under water scene so you can never tell how accurate colour is.

Either that or the S2 OLED is basically a poor example of the tech.

I also notice image retention. This is most noticeable when switching to a gray background like market. OLED can suffer screen burn too.

My complaint is that imo "movie" and "standard" should be swapped; a bit of extra 'punch' is welcome for watching video but it messes with the dynamic range and colour rendition of photos. 'Movie' mode seems to me to be the most natural. As for "dynamic..... I guess some people must enjoy having their retinas scorched. :)

Just found the 'screen adjuster' app. Far from perfect, but seems to be able to reduce the contrast and excessive red.

I'll try it with an online profile checker later today and see if it can make the s2 usuable as photo display device.

wtf aren't icc profiles supported?? Hardly rocket science any more.

Are these photo's taken on another camera then? Because when I take a photo on mine, and compare it to what i'm looking at, which I do a lot to convince myself the camera is ok, the colour representation is fine.

Maybe it's the camera you used? Can't say I have this issue, pictures and videos look better and more natural on this phone that any phone i've ever seen or used.

I'm a semi-pro photographer. The shots in question were taken on another camera and then post-processed on a colour-calibrated monitor.

I gather no phone at all is currently supporting ICC so I can well believe they're all just as bad.

Some people are using ipads to present work to customers though, but I don't know what the calibration options on that might be.
