Email Lg stating that "Test Mode/Safe Mode/Crap Mode" what ever you want to call has been happening for no apperent reason what so ever to some forum members. I have experienced it and trust me it is horrible to be stuck in that situation. Luckily to Fuzzy13, he made a guide on how to get out of this mode if it ever happened to you. The reason why I suggest emailing them is, because it is happening more and more >_<

Im all for this. Even if you haven't experienced this, trust me, you DONT want to.

Here's what I sent to them.

The number of LG-Esteem and Revolution phones going into test mode lately is astounding. Seems to be happening for no reason. The phone will freeze causing the person to pull the battery. But once they reboot they find they have no service, only data, and the # sign sends them straight to the LG hidden menu. Luckily there is a fix for this but at the rate it's happening there wont be enough phones in stock to keep up with the ones NOT lucky enough to find the fix. I hope LG already knows of this and is currently working on an update for the Esteem to combat this problem because its getting out of hand. Thanks

I got a response from LG. I really hate them. Money grubbing greedy bastards. Get a laugh out of this.

Dear Robert,

Thank you for contacting LG Electronics. I am delighted to hear from you as our valued customer, I do apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced and I will be glad to help you out here.

Perhaps this can be addressed with a software update.
In order to see if your phone is able to be updated, from the home screen of the phone, press the menu key and go to settings > about phone > SW version. Check the SW version to see if it states: MS910ZVD. If it has another letter before “D”, then the phone’s software can be updated.

In order to perform the update to your phone, , make sure of the following:
- Fully charge the battery.
- Save any important data before updating the software on your device. Any data not saved on a micro SD card or PC may be erased. Refer to the “Backup” section below for backing up.
- Remove the micro SD after completing the backup
- Close all open applications on your computer before starting.
- Check "USB Debugging" on the phone: Application -> Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB Debugging

Then, follow these steps:
1. Download the Driver: http://www.lg.com/us/mobile-phones/...bileDriver_S4981MAN36AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.6.exe
2. Download the LG Mobile Support Tool: http://www.lg.com/us/mobile-phones/P925-Driver/documents/B2CAppSetup.exe
3. Restart the computer
4. Connect the phone to the computer and you should see a notification from Windows that states "New hardware found". Allow a few seconds until it changes to "Your new hardware is ready to use".
5. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer, wait 5-10 seconds and insert it again.
6. Open the LG Mobile Support Tool, wait for it to "analyze" and then click on the red/pink "start updating" button.
7. Follow the instructions on the screen.

Backup:
CONTACTS: go to Contacts > Menu key > Import/Export > Export to SD card
MESSAGES: Unfortunately the phone will not support SMS backing up natively, but you can try to download an application from the market that will allow you to do this, you can search for "SMS backup" and you should get a couple of results. Unfortunately we can't suggest or recommend any application as we can't support them. I'd recommend reading the description, reviews or comments of the applications in order to choose one that will work for you.
APPS: Some applications will allow you to move them to the microSD card, if you want to backup, go to Settings > applications > manage applications, select an application and, if you see that the "move to SD card" button is available, you can move it, if it's grayed out, unfortunately the application won't allow you to copy it to the card

MEDIA: usually the phone will automatically store all the pictures and videos to the SD card, but you can check by turning off the phone, remove the microSD card and turn on the phone. If you can't see your pictures or music or video files, then they're safe.
If you still see the media files, then you might want to move them to the microSD card using either the Polaris Office or Astro File Manager. Insert the microSD card again and go to home screen > menu key and look for the programs. Locate the DCIM folder (pictures and videos) and press and hold on it and select "copy" or "cut", then locate the external_SD folder, press and hold on it and select "paste" to copy the contents to the microSD. Do the same with the music folder (downloads, attachments) if you wish as well.

If, after all this the phone is still showing you the same behavior, then please contact us to create a return authorization to fix your phone.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us again either via email, or by calling our customer service division at 800-243-0000 at your convenience.
