Root tethering now that we have root?

so now that we have root, I tried using WIFI Tether app and it doesn't seem to work. I'm not sure what device profile I should use if any of them. Any one have any suggestions?

I have no 4g here at home, but I would try EasyTether or PDAnet. I've heard better success with PDAnet. You have to change the configuration in your computer also so Metro can't detect it.

ill try that, yep i know about the computer conig

none of the tether apps seem to work. the wifi hotspot ones. I don't want a USB one, I want to tether my tablet

Is your tablet able to tether from Ad-Hoc networks? If I remember correctly, making an android hotspot creates an Ad-Hoc network. I rooted a Sony Tablet S that wasn't able to connect to Ad-Hoc networks, but it does now. :) CM can do it too, perhaps the problem isn't on the phone end?

its the phone, the apps say that setting AD-Hoc mode failed. wonder if it has to do with metros 4g mobile app

Not sure, you could try freezing it to see if thats whats causing it. I would test, but no 4g here.

that's what i was thinking too, but it doesn't show up in titanium back up.

I wouldn't mind paying 10 bucks a month for tether if metro didn't have strings and limitations attached to it. When will these companies learn, making your customers happy is how you make money. not trying to control them like robots.

On motion, we use the stock wifi tether app and a user agent on the computer, works fine.

Here's what works for me on the LG Motion 4G with the app WiFi Tether for Root Users:

Device-Profile: Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)
Setup-Method: Netd (master)

And then check "Enable WiFi-Encryption" and set a password.

It's worked for me every time with no problems, and MetroPCS doesn't detect it because the app masks the fact that you're tethering.

Hello everyone. New to the rooting scene kinda.. about the tether apps. I had some trouble getting it to work. All other apps wouldnt give me access to check the box untill i came across "mobile hotspot" this i guess unlocked the check box. I can tether useing my home wifi and my phone data. Just letting ya know what worked for me.. hope u got yours to work.
