When I go into tethering mode it disables wireless.
Is there a setting I can use that auto enables it once I come off tethering?

unfortunately no. you can try the wireless tethering app found in the play store, but that is for rooted phones, however.

Lol I forgot about foxfi.....never used it as I always rooted my phones in the past so I never needed it.
Are you referring to the WiFi hotspot as a means of tethering or USB or bluetooth tethering?
If I enable the WiFi hotspot via the quick access toggles (from the notofication pull down) it gives me the warning about turning off WiFi and then when I next tap the toggle to turn the hotspot off WiFi goes back on.
As far as I can see this is because the WiFi hardware can either act as an access point (hotspot on) or a client of an existing WiFi network (hotspot off) but not both at the same time. There isn't any need to do both at the same time anyway as, if you have a WiFi infrastructure available, it would surely be available to the PC or tablet you are using directly and there would no need to connect via your phone.
