Help Text Limit?

Hi guys! I'm new to the Evo and this section so I don't know if this has been asked or answered. I recently got rid of my Hero and my wifes Moment and got us both Evo's. Both our older phones had trouble if we let too many text messages build up. If I had over 200 messages on the Hero and tried deleting them all at once, the phones would take 30-60 seconds to do it. I read of other older Android phones having the same problems, even full lock ups if you let too many build up. I'm just wondering if the Evo is plaged by this problem? Do I need to delete all my texts every few days or before it goes over a couple hundred?

All in all I'm loving the Evo, it is lightning fast compared to the Hero and actually works(unlike the M:(ment).

The default messaging app has a setting which deletes old messages if you select it. It even has the option to set the limit per conversation. Not sure if the phone automatically deletes messages regardless as this was unselected by default on my phone and I always delete msgs manually everyday. If you don't plan on setting a limit then as sanchez said, just delete the msgs every couple days to be on the safe side.

If i let my messages between me and my gf build up too much then the messaging app will slow down when opening it up. I usually delete at about 200-300 messages. Unfortunately she did not do that and had a couple thousand messages between me and her. when she went to delete them, it took a couple tries because it would almost lock up and took forever to delete. i would say all in all took about 5 minutes or so to delete them.

So needless to say yes the evo has the same problem.

I read in a thread a couple months ago that someone was having problems deleting 1900 messages.

Thanks for the responses. I forgot to mention that I'm using Handset on the Evo as well as the Hero for the past year. I never noticed an auto delete option, but I also manually deleted every couple of days. Looks like I'll continue to do the same with the Evo.

i will eventually clean them up but I have info in there I need to save
