Root Text msg problem

I'm having some small problems that I kinda just ran into a little and I feel like my setup may have something to do with it.

A few things happened that made my question if perhaps my kernal wasn't working out or something in my setup was interfering with some basic phone functions. Just wanted to get some insight on whether these are issues that can be identified with custom roms/kernals/etc.

First off - my set up.
DJ05
Super Dark DJ05 Rom v1
1/24 jt voodoo5 (was on 1/26 imnuts 100 voodoo5 when i noticed problems)

Running LP+ (TW not disabled - prefer to have facebook sync, etc)

So one problem is that I found I was not receiving text messages. Not 100% of them at least, though I suppose I would have no way of truly knowing unless I hadn't talked to a classmate that texted my on Wednesday that I didn't get. They are on an iPhone on AT&T.

They texted me again in class and nothing came through, though my text to her went through perfectly fine.

Umm hmph.. well other issue kinda pales in comparison. Simple, I suppose, but the voicemail button has fc issues. lol that is all. I can still dial 1 and get to it, but just wondering about it.

Any ideas? I kinda pieced together a few things in my head that may be the cause.

voicemail button fc = error in rom/no big deal

text problems = phone can't handle a -100 step uv kernal? idk


And not to drag this on, but another thing I just thought of - I use tweetdeck and have it set to 3m syncs. Sometimes I just doesn't seem to syncs for much longer than that. I'll check my phone after a little and find like 5 tweets that range over +/- an hour, which is kinda odd to me.

Super Dark does not support voicemail but you will get a notification through SMS that you got one. Before installing a new ROM its wise to perform a full wipe of data and cache. If you install a kernel, then only cache. I was on Super Dark with imnuts and Adrenalyne's and had no issues with messaging.
 
I suppose I should mention this (and I know some *gasp!*'s will occur. I'm super paranoid about having my daily setup on a clean install. Every time I do a data/cache wipe, I end up flashing back a nandroid pre-whatever I just flashed fresh.

This is all despite religiously backing up my app data and the such with Titanium Backup Pro. I think the biggest problem I have with it is the manually picking out the facebook friends I want to pair with my VZ Backup Assist/gmail contacts. Hell if I 'select all' and add them - I won't talk to 80% of them and have no need for them on my contacts list. I know doing a fresh install = filtering through and checking alot of boxes in ignoring even more on the 'Get Friends' contact thing.
 
The voicemail button causing a fc is simply a function of the stock visual voicemail app not being present in the clean rom.
 
So im still chllin with the set up. My sister just called me. I've send her 2 texts in the last hour. She called me to ask why i send her 12 texts in the past hour... hmm so guess it's not cool lol
 
Did a test with my sister just now - she said the handful of texts she got from me last night were blank. So I sent her a text to see what was up. It was blank also.

Any ideas of the culprit here?

Good question lol. It's verticle messaging that was with the superdark rom. Kinda chat like. Not sure what's its called specificly but ill check

can't seem to figure out what it's using for messaging - it's still opened through the default green messaging app
 
I asked TheDudeButch in irc - said it's the superclean one so based off of jt's messaging app

they told me to clear the data and cache but it had 0.0 cache built up so hmm
 
did a data/cache wipe and flashed superclean .9 DJ05 - till sends blank texts to my sister.

odin'ing my phone back to stock to reroot, etc. going to try to text her from stock (eww) and see if that works. Otherwise, who the hell knows why it's messed up

lol well back to stock and it worked - now lets see if i can root and flash a rom and a voodoo5 kernal and get the same results =D

Make sure you have the right radio for your rom
 
hmm so how do i figure out which is the right one? I got back to SuperClean .9 DJ05 and she got a blank text. So needless to say, im on DJ05.

and if it makes any difference, my sister doesnt have a smart phone

Dj05 will work fine with either the dj05 radio or the dl09 one
