Help Texting Issue

When I send someone a text it is showing up that it is coming from a long number (13 .... etc) and not my own number. I just got this phone yesterday. Has anyone experienced this issue?

edit: Nevermind. Figured it out. I had to edit my name card!

I've heard of that happening but don't recall a solution for it (never happened to me that I am aware of).

Did you try calling Verizon and asking them? I know they have been performing some updates so perhaps this is something they are in the process of fixing (as it seems to be a network issue...not a phone issue)

that long number is referencing your SIM ID(if i'm not mistaken)--according to another forum in which i'm involved. some threads there dealt with the same issue.
solution? power off, pull the battery, pull the Sim, re-insert SIM, re-insert battery, power on

most people reported this solution worked, but it took some of them close to half an hour for the phone to begin registering to send their phone number--not their SIM ID--as the call back number in texts.
give it a go

(you can compare the two numbers by looking at a text, copy the long number "13......etc" and then menu>settings>about phone>phone identity>SIM Card Id)

I might be mistaken but in the settings for text messages. Isnt there an option to turn off the sim thing? Or maybe that was another function.

Wife's TB had the exact same issue. A power down did in fact correct the issue. Didn't actually have to pull the battery. YMMV.

There is an option to "Manage messages stored on your SIM card"...but I honestly don't know what the hell that means. I don't have any messages on my SIM card LOL

I thought I just had to fix my name card but that only worked for a little while. The long number is my IMSI number, not my SIM ID. I'm going to power off and see what happens.
