Did you buy your Prime before or after GPS was taken off the spec sheet ?

I didn't look at the spec sheet. It was the first quad-core device and I knew this device was going to get ICS shortly after release. I have a rooted phone with the ability to wifi tether and my gps works fine on the Evo with a sense rom. AOSP roms? A little more work to get gps working as it should. But I didn't intend to use the device as a gps navigational unit, so that was never a selling point for me.

That's great for you but, I like to get what I pay for ! GPS was listed on the spec sheet when I purchased mine and I should not have to come up with some ad-hoc way of making a feature work !

I'll sweeten the deal! I'll give Asus their prime back plus $50.00 to get a fully functioning device..............I think with the false advertising on the Prime, it's a more than fair deal for both partys !

Ok since you didn't look at nothing on the spec sheet other than "Quad-core", can you tell us what date you actually hit the "Pay now" button?

Since this is a big issue for you, I get it. You're disappointed with ASUS but now you're questioning me about how I buy things.

First, look at this http://androidforums.com/android-lounge/447869-info-tablets.html

When I initially looked into buying a tablet, I didn't even know about the Prime. Did some research on a few and then narrowed it down to 2. Then I saw a preorder for the Prime and realized preorders were "selling" out. I jumped on it quickly from Gamestop. Wifi-only was my only requirement as I didn't want to spend money on a 3G tablet.

The only news I got on the Prime was it was the first quad-core tablet and ICS was shortly coming to the Prime after release. Again, having a rooted phone, this device fit my needs.

So, forgive me for not looking at the spec sheet

Understand and not really trying to rile anyone up, it's just that I don't understand people who are so passe' over a device that was suppose to have a certain feature, turns out the certain feature doesn't really work, the company sweep's the issue under the carpet and owners look the other way and make excuses for them !

Let them get away with it this time, then what should you expect from them next time ?

I like my prime and have no issues with it other than GPS.............I just don't like being taken for a sucker or getting what I paid for !

I feel the same way as you. When I bought my Prime I paid for the GPS feature. I personally use my GPS for navigation. I have a dock in my car for a tablet. I don't understand why some people feel GPS is a non-issue when it is something they are paying for.

Also, another problem I had was the bloody SD card sticking out. It came out several times and I actually lost one memory card. Luckily, it was only 4gb.

I ended up sending mine back to Amazon.

ok then dont buy it simple as that. No one is forcing you to buy this tablet.

I have the prime and I like it a lot. It has so far replaced my core i7 heavy as shin laptop. I dont use gps on a tablet as I have my phone with a 4.3" screen to do that for me. You should get the rezound if you want gps.

Anyway my transformer prime is awesome

Exactly! All this hoo-ha about the GPS and new models...Asus have said nothing about release dates, and anyway, I think the Prime is by far the best Tablet on the market. It's a beautiful machine and does exactly what it says it's going to do. Love it!!

And there you have it ! 2 testaments, above, of people turning a blind eye to a company's deceit.

I honestly believe people make excuses for Asus just to make themselves feel better and to believe that they don't own a faulty product !

Again I will state:
1. If you bought your Prime when GPS was listed, as a feature in the specs, you now own a faulty device !

2. If you bought your Prime after GPS was taken off the spec sheet, you don't have a dog in this fight...........you knew what you were getting !

And this question is directed to "Pragmatous" !

What does a person do, when they purchased their Prime and GPS was listed as a feature and expected Asus to fix the problem, instead of sweeping it under the carpet and was past their 14 day return window ?

And yes, the sdcard not sitting flush is a huge design flaw, that never should have been missed !
How do you design the slickest tablet on the market and miss something so simple !

i got mine in the last few weeks and it has been fine. The GPS works!! anyhow that isnt why i got the prime! its about the 10th most important feature in my opinion. This tablet is fantastic by far the best that ive had. I think you need to take a chill pill. Im not making excuses im just genuinely very satisfied with this product.

b

And again.............I don't need a chill pill..........just get tired of Fanboi's making excuses For Asus !

If you just purchased recently, then like stated above , you don't even have a dog in this fight , because GPS is no longer a feature on the Prime and while GPS is not the main reason for my prime purchase, it's still something that was listed as a feature and something I paid for.

STOP making excuses for Asus !

I bought my tablet when GPSwas a spec too. Unfortunately my first prime was a beta tablet IMO. SN starting with b. Long story short, it was horrible, GPS was non existent, the volume rocker was the wrong color, the screen feedback was awful, dead pixels, light bleed, poor WiFi, and the whole 9 yards. I decided to RMA for repairs while in my return window. It was the wrong decision probably. It took forever and 20 to 30 calls. The end result was a new prime with SN starting c10. Everything works now.

The prime is on par with smoothness to my iPad 2. The GPS is perfect, have even drove around and usedturn by turn nav. Not a single drop out, and pretty constant 12 sats. WiFi is fastest device I own.....

Sorry for your troubles, but it is very possible to get a prime that is fully functional.

If that 's the case, why doesn't Asus do the right thing and replace faulty Primes, I'm sure they know which ones they are, with one that is fully functional without going through the RMA nightmare experience!

Personally , I think I know the answer to that one ! Asus hopes that the average owner/Fanboi will not complain, think they have the best device on the planet and will not pester them about the shortcomings of this tablet, hence, less tablets they have to replace !

I paid for a fully functioning device !

Well if that's what you want, you shouldn't be posting in this forum, you should be on the phone with Asus, or emailing their staff.

If you complain to them enough, you will see results.

They log each call, and can see how many times you have called to complain, so the more you do, the more persistent you are, the more likely you will be sent a brand new, 2nd production run, fixed device.

If I were you, I would be trying to get mine replaced with a brand new one, not a repaired one. Call them, and tell them you will give your CC #, if they will send you a new one, and once you have it, you will send in your old one.

Also, their CSR won't do anything for you, so either ask for a supervisor, or contact Gary or one of his assistants. my tablet was in "repairs" for weeks before I had enough of it, I emailed Gary, and within a week I had a brand new tab.

Goodluck, because personally, I love being able to use my GPS! I push gps test, and within 5 seconds I have 12 sats!

Will start calling Asus tomorrow. Have already been emailing them, with their latest response being, RMA it. Not after the horror stories I've heard. Will send in my Prime, once new one has been received and tested by yours truly !

So you kept your "faulty" device past your return window and now you don't like the way Asus wants to fix it so you're bashing them... I get it, they haven't handled the situation as best as they could have but neither has anyone that is "stuck" with one. You knew its issues from day one but decided to keep it anyway, just as they still sold it...

And here is another Asus can do no wrong Fanboi !

"NO"........I did not know there were GPS issues from day one, thank you very much !

Now follow closely and I'll try to explain it as if I were talking to a 3 year old !

1. I purchased the Prime when GPS was listed on the spec sheet as a feature ! Nowhere, at the time of purchased, Dec. 24th, on the net, on the spec sheet or on the box did it say anything like "Limited GPS capability" or "So-So GPS".

2. Within a week of owning the Prime, rumors began to circulate about GPS issues on the net, tested myself and found that GPS was not working like it should, then made the mistake of thinking a reputable company like Asus would "FIX" the issue ! So I keep Prime, knowing a company like Asus will surely fix something that is broke with their device, past my 14 day return window. Most company's I know "FIX" problems with their products !

3. Asus decides to screw over the owners of Primes who purchased while GPS was listed as a feature by saying, "Err........Uh......Well, We just put Gps on the spec sheet because it sounded good and didn't really mean that this was a Gps capable device and to prove it were going to remove Gps from the spec sheet !

Now go make love to your Prime or whatever it is you Fanboyz do to or on your Prime !

Lol, I'm hardly a fanboy, but either way. My point is just the opposite of yours. You feel I think Asus has done no wrong but you won't take responsibility as a consumer for making a choice to keep a faulty product.

Fwiw, I'm on your side and feel Asus needs to do something to make the situation right. However you had choices and still do to have them fix it.

Personally I think it sucks my gps is crappy, but I took that into account when making my purchase.

If you bought any other product with problems would you return it or keep it as is hoping the manufacturer fixes it at some point?

I purchased mine when GPS was on the spec sheet !
2. Did you purchase your prime before or after people discovered GPS was faulty ?
I purchased mine before people realized there was a GPS problem !

Let me try to simplify the matter for you.............take a deep breath now !
Asus decided they were not going to do a damn thing to fix the GPS "AFTER" my return window ! I expected them to fix it, not lie about it !

If they had said were not going to fix sh!t suckers, like they did, before the end of my return window, I would have return it !

Do you now needs charts , graphs and pictures because you still don't understand it ?

You're missing my point. You kept a product you felt was broken past your return window assuming that Asus would take care of it. We can argue forever, you still knew it didn't work and kept it past your return window on purpose. My point is regardless of what Asus should do you are still completely to blame for your current situation.

On another note I haven't insulted you once, I've simply stated my personal opinion on your situation. Your insulting me on this forum will not fix your gps issue just as keeping a product past the return window knowing it has an issue will not get it fixed any sooner. Carry on...

You were clearly within your 14 day window to return your Prime and as far as I'm concerned, you are the only person to blame for your dissatisfaction

First I'd like to say, sorry if i insulted anyone.

Next, if you are happy with your broken Prime and don't mind letting a company get away with false advertising .............so be it.

If I purchase a car, that had gps on the window sticker, got home and found out the gps did not work, I would expect the dealer to fix the gps , not tell me " Sorry Pal, we forgot to put the word limited in front of gps, on the window sticker! "
