That kickstand phone?

just to put things into perspective... i know everyone here (myself included) is working themselves into a frothy lather over this phone. but the average consumer has NO IDEA about all this delay and phone features kerfuffle. i was discussing my waffling between the thunderbolt and the iphone 4 with my boyfriend yesterday. he's a very smart, educated guy with a droid eris. when i mentioned the thunderbolt he just said, "oh, that kickstand phone? i wouldn't mind a kickstand. do they make cases with kickstands?" end of discussion. he knows nothing about processors or dual cores or retina displays or delays. nor was he even aware that all of those lightning storm commercials were advertising "that kickstand phone."

my guess is that verizon isn't all that concerned about a very vocal tiny tech minority - again, myself included - getting worked up about this phone not being out yet when joe public is barely even aware of the phone's existence.

just my two cents...

Yeah most people don't know , I showed the phone to my roommate and another friend that both have EVOs and they said "whats the big deal it's the exact same as my phone" ... When this phone is released most people won't notice the difference between it and the EVO except it's on Verizon

Tell them that yes, they do make kickstand cases. :D

There are a few classes of cell phone owners:

Junkies, like ourselves. We find out every single piece of information we can on our devices, pictures, specs, etc., and we talk about them at length to gather every ounce of information we can.

Trendies who just want the "it" thing.

The others that really don't care one way or the other what their phone can or can't do.

Don't forget the last group - *I don't care, I want an iPhone*

I agree, I get all worked up about it and mention to anyone else only to get the response, "you're getting another phone? What's so great about this new one? Why not just get an Iphone? They're already out." Which leads to a long soap box chant (on my part) of why its a big deal. I haven't met a single person who cares.

I didn't care when all I used were blackberries, back before the smart phone era..when blackberries were the shit. Back when..you..used your phone as a means of communication.

I was totally a Crackberry addict! And then I saw what I was missing out on.....I will say that BB did built a solid (build) phone with an awesome battery -- even if I did have to pull it twice a day!

Blackberry has made some strides..

I only pull the battery on my Bold 9700 like once every 2 days.. :)

I have the same problem at work, most ask if my Inc is an iphone.
I have a company issued BB and everyone else that has one always asks me why I have a personal phone when the company says to use the BB as your personal device. My answer is because it's a BB.
Once you go Droid you never go back.

If only..

QuickPull and my phone never quite played nicely together.

Hopefully I wont have to worry about that with my brand spankin new kickstand phone. :)

Ive converted 5 people to android, a few iphone users too. One switched back to the iphone 4 just because he had an HTC Aria (awful phone) so i dont blame him there.
