As has been pointed out hundreds of times already, Droid is vanilla Android and far easier to update than a phone running Sense.

i know it's simpler and it's been pointed out... just saying, maybe they'll work a bit faster, that's all...

Yes, but HTC has had 2.1 in hand since well before the Droid was even released. If the devs at XDA had the .29 kernel, we could have had a fully working, fully optimized 2.1 last November. HTC has NO excuse for these excessive delay....period.

Don't call me a jerk because i have the drooooiddddd!!! sorry had to do that. Also we are not complaining even though we have 2.0.1...2.1 for us is just eye candy not really anything special for folks with 2.0.1.. MMMMMM i said eye candy. I hope sprint gives you 2.1 soon. But for now Droooidddd oops i am a jerk .

Lol, seems like you'd change your sig...and your device info...and your avatar :-P

Haha, you'll be back :p

Nope not never or ever or ever. This thing runs sooo fast and is sooo smooth and looks and feels great. You don't know awesome until your rocking a 3.7 inch mmmm capable of running 3d games like homerun slugger 3d which is only for droid and nexus mmmm. Its just pure power and loves long walks in the park. Also surprising to me this thing last longer battery wise then my hero. I love the hero, but married the Drooooiddd..yep still a jerk. :p

See, I told you that you'd be back

I can't stand the feel of the damn thing. It's just not very ergonomic for me

...will you be tempted to drop Sprint and switch to Verizon? I sure will be tempted to go back. Add to this the new that the Droid will be getting 2.1 this week and its pretty clear that Verizon seems very interested in Android. Wish Sprint showed that enthusiasm

Sprint not showing enthusiasm? I'm tired of this argument. Its been discussed over and over. Sprint is not being left behind yada yada. Sprint has the best Android phone ever rumored coming out soon, so what's your deal? Really? The hero is barely 3 months old, and if your willing to drop Sprint, pay an etf, then switch to a carrier with comparable or the SAME phones, Well I just call that silly.

Do you work for Verizon?

Threads like this one, and the one below, make me think so.

Let me ask you something. Why are you trying to deliberately start trouble? First you attack Android, and now Sprint? Why?

Sprint is the only carrier in the US that is selling the phone. I bought the phone at the sprint store. That makes the phone's problems a sprint problem. Passing it off on HTC is convenient and typical in the piss poor world of pass the buck customer service, but it does not change the fact that the responsibility is on sprint. They should have tested EVERY single thing about that phone BEFORE it every went on sale. They did not and it is their fault.

I would have bought the Droid the day it came out but that thing was way too big and ugly. It looks like the little brother to the phone gordon gecko was carrying on the beach in the movie Wall Street. :D But that beast does perform, and its got a freaking update, unlike the hero.

Look up HTC Supersonic,4g baby

There is zero proof that the Supersonic is coming to the US, let alone to Sprint. So for now, its a fantasy. The N1 going to Verizon has already been confirmed.

Again, I said Sprint is testing THEIR APPS, such as NFL and Nascar. Not to mention it's entirely possible Sprint is testing everything this time, learning from the previous mistakes with these phones.

Wait so you are purposing that they don't test anything outside of the realm of their applications or perhaps checking real quick to ensure it connects to the network. If indeed that is true then that explains a lot of issues with past Sprint devices.

Unfortunately that's just not how the industry operates.

too bad they can't release 2.1 without testing for sprint apps because i uninstall all their apps anyway. :p

People who r always talkin about switching to another carrier if blah blah blah doesnt happen want a mobile phone for the wrong reason. We r fortunate that these phones do as much as they do nd with a solid carrier to back it up. Why people keep comparing the droid and nexus one to the hero is pointless! They r completely different animals... of course the droid renders web pages better. Its got more pixels to work with! Of course it loads faster. Because it's got a faster processor! Same goes for the N1. They have better hardware! If u don't like the Hero then drop Sprint which has just about as good of coverage as verizon(lets not forget we roam on Big Red) the few times we don't get good Sprint signal which happens sometimes... Verizon has places where they don't get a strong signal either! Ive sat next to someone with Verizon who had two bars where we were nd i had full signal! Now whether they roam on sprint idk but stop bit**ing and be happy with wat u got. If u wanna piss ur money away with Verizon no ones stopping u.

yeah, look at all the problems with the n1 now, im kinda glad sprint is making sure it works b4 releasing!

I dunno... This Hero of mine is the most buggy phone I've ever owned. I think they should just drop 2.1 on it ASAP. I hate the wait. By the time they put 2.1 on it, 2.5 will be out. It's stupid to drag your heels on this stuff.

This is why I want the N1. No Sense, no carrier getting in the way. It's just Google updating the phone. Like the iPhone. LOVE IT.
