Same happened to me. I was able to early upgrade my first line but not second as they told me that the second line is not on minimum required rate plan!!
Hey guys, just want to share my atrix pre-ordering experience. I am a premiere customer and I ordered the atrix online sunday morning. For some reason I was being charged the $299.99 upgrade price. The $100 instant rebate didnt transfer over to the final price.I am on a family plan and I have the smarthphone unlimited data plan. I figured I would order it and get it resolved on Monday. I called at&t 4 times. The first 3 times, the reps were no help. The 4th time I struck gold. Unfortunately, from what I was told, the $100 would be credited to my account when I call in to at&t to activate my phone. Hopefully this will help anyone who weren't able to get the rebate online.

Yea that's true, just picked up an EVO Shift for my wife from Best Buy which they priced matched down to $79.

I'm assuming you're buying the phone off contract and at full price, right? Since if you buy it subsidized, you are forced to get a plan and would need to pay for it.

If you are a Premier customer and was having difficulties ordering the Atrix for the $199.99 price, it is working now! I am not sure if it was a glitch but after talking to their Twitter CSRs, I was just told the issue was resolved.

Follow this guy: @ATTJohnathon on Twitter, he resolved my issue within a couple of hours but remember you have to be eligible for a full upgrade.
No i was actually talking about if I bought it with a 'plan' for the 199$, if it wud be forced upon me immediately or not until I called (since its shipped )
I cant seem to get the site to let me preorder it off contract since Im not a ATT member

Well DT, I think you should go ahead and do it. I went ahead and did it and what happened was the line that had the contract just got extended and no new number. Worst comes to worst, they do add a line, you can always cancel the line and return the phone without any hassle and get the phone for off-contract price. But, if I were you, I'd definitely jump on this (if you haven't already) before this "glitch" is over because I have a feeling it will be once the pre-orders are over and the phone actually comes out.

Well - you might be a little bit of a guinea pig on this one cause I haven't tried it to upgrade on the Atrix YET. However I fully intend to try it.
I was successful with this very method about 2 years ago when I bought my BB Bold 9000. There was a $125 promo I found that would not work with the FAN account. However; I waited 30 days after getting my new phone to re-apply for FAN sponsorship. Once I did that, it took about another month for the discount to show up again. But all in all - it worked out great! (which is why i plan to do it again)
BTW - all you have to do is call AT&T (611) and tell them to remove the FAN - you don't need tell them why. If they ask i'd just tell them i don't work for that company anymore...
Then just log into your account and order like any other person with a personal account would do. GOOD LUCK!

I'm 99% sure I'm going to order tonight, especially since I'm getting the $200 price and have my unlimited plan as an option. If it goes through and resets my contract duration, I've only lost ~7 months anyway.

- RFC w/ LED flash
- LED notification (multi-color at that)
- FFC
Here's some things I believe it improves on:
- Speed/performance (vs. stock, with root + custom ROM, the Captivate is decent)
- GPS
- Display (still pentile, but a better implementation, plus higher resolution PPI)
- Network speeds (assuming HSPA+ works out)
- Battery life (at least based on reviews, FWIW, the SGS has so-so battery like on reviews)
Finally, a few additional perks specific to this phone:
- HDMI out (SGS has something like this , but not via standard HDMI)
- Fingerprint reader
- Dual core (if/when a DC optimized OS is released, we'll get some substantial speed bumps)
- Docks (the MM dock has me +slightly+ interested)
...and given my Captivate should go for close to $200, the only thing I'm losing is 7 months of contract time.

Wow, thanks! Yeah, it's pretty mint, I still have the original box/docs, headphones, charger, plus it's in a nice Seidio Innocase II.
Does AT&T just give that unlock code up?
It's rooted, but I figure I'd just flash back to a stock ROM.
