Wow, thanks! Yeah, it's pretty mint, I still have the original box/docs, headphones, charger, plus it's in a nice Seidio Innocase II.

Does AT&T just give that unlock code up?

You're good DT Call AT&T and they will unlock your phone for you:

Wireless phones purchased from AT&T generally come with locked SIMs, which potentially makes them incompatible with wireless service from non-AT&T providers.

To use an AT&T phone on another wireless network, you must unlock its SIM using an Unlock Code.

AT&T will provide the Unlock Code for phones on wireless plans if:

• Your wireless service has been active for 90 days or longer
• Your account is current and in good standing
• Your phone is not sold exclusively by us
• Your phone's Unlock Code is available from the Manufacturer

You didn't stipulate how you wanted to buy it. Of course you can only pre-order if you're a current customer. Once its released and on the shelf anyone can buy it off contract.
