The Bah-Humbug thread!

Okay. My Black Panther Squad never did that. I guess the Scouts always used black and white patches in my day.
We were Black. We went to Jamboree on Moon Island (Home of Horseshoe Crabs).
Black Panther Boy Scouts were born in Boston Harbor.
BAH-HUMBUG!

The scouts here to have some stands in parking lots selling trees, but I think the majority of their holiday income comes from tree clean-up. The week between Christmas and New Years we'll get a large plastic bag in our mailbox for tree removal. Just put it out on the curb with a small donation and the scouts come by to take it to the tree chipper. Since we have moved to an artificial tree, we just give them the donation.

Our big fund raiser was always our trees. They were over priced but kind people bought them anyway. Paper drives were likely the next in line for income. We got a hot deal on some locally made boomerangs.. they were a hard sell. :) I still have one somewhere. No doubt a collector's item. :)

Is it wrong of me to chuckle at the people walking around complaining that "Christmas doesn't feel the same" this year? So ... it is about the parties and gifts and gross excesses after all.

Did you think you'd be spared a seasonal diatribe from your resident scrooge? Silly people.

This year Christmas doesn't seem very festive or traditional in the celebratory fashion. And it's not just me. Perhaps last year's restrictions and concerns about COVID added to the strained economic and political climate somehow broke the addiction cycle and the world is in some kind of recovery from Christmas as a seasonal expression of excess and affluence. Or, maybe, just like the Debbie Boone song from 1977 "You light up my life" that started out as a monster hit that everyone loved and became not much more than a joke people tune away when it airs, people have just become tired of its useless repetition.

well it does not keep people from travelling or shopping. just driving around LA this past weekend sucked b@lls!!!!! there was so much traffic i thought i was stuck in rush hour traffic still from friday.....LOL

this weekend being xmas weekend, driving around town should be a lot smoother.

We quit gifting a few years back. A few trinkets for the little guys and done. Taking that out of holiday has made it a great excuse to share time with friends and family. It's more like St. Patrick's day for me.
Eat, drink, and be merry.

Soooooooooooo went out just Christmas shopping, for my friends grandkids, we just went around and getting snacks mostly for doing the sugar cookies decoration ya know.. :: sighs::: December's right?
