Ok so I preordered my ThunderBolt this morning, but couldn't stop thinking about it, so I called Bestbuy again tonight, and snaked through the geek squad department, electronics, everyone was running around asking, and since they were about to get off they seemed to have nothing better to do, then one finally told me, "it should be in the best buy, the same time that verizon has it, but our confirmed date is the 14th." So I asked does that mean I can show up that morning and I'll be guaranteed to buy this phone, without getting any confirmation call that my phone is ready to be picked up and he replied yes, and with the preorder, they will not sell the phone for any reason.

Preordered mine a couple hours ago. The Best Buy Mobile representative I talked to tonight said we will absolutely have it on Monday. I said will I get mine on Monday because I need to switch off Sprint by the 19th. He said yes you are guaranteed yours for Monday. They already have a couple of cases in for the Thunderbolt as well. Heres to hoping they come through.
same here! So exciting, I can't believe we had to fight this hard to get a release date that is going to be next monday?! It's all worth it though!

I know it's insane that so close to launch the release date was unclear. I am just so happy to get off of Sprint and my HTC Touch Pro and get on Verizon with a my new Thunderbolt!

Problem for me and BB is that they only do 2 years, I cant see myself having this phone for two years, if I do two years but I want to change within a year, I doubt they would let me change...

Finally found an alternative to the Thunderbolt, that, if specs hold true, will have the HDMI output:
LG Revolution Hands-on - Phone Arena
Not only does it boast bluetooth 3.0 compatibility (with an update), but it also will have a more stock feeling android experience for those that don't like Sense. I like Sense just fine, especially the new super speedy sense they appear to have on the Thunderbolt, but I'm even happier with a more stock feel, AND finally with HDMI out. It will have a similar industrial aluminum w/soft grip edges. And I doubt it will have the locked down bootloader the likes of recent Motorolas.
For those that don't ever need HDMI out or have a home full of state of the art DLNA devices, the Thunderbolt is still a great bet (especially with the extremely generous included storage space - holy cow!) But for those of you wanting that the Revolution might be a good alternative for us, announced, so far, to be available for Verizon's LTE network. I just wish it came out sooner ....

Preordered mine yesterday afternoon, and was told that it would be there and available on the 14th... They kept saying how that date could very easily change, as it has changed with other phones.
Went into a Verizon store this evening and asked, and they said that it was up to HTC when the phone would be released and that it will either be the 14th or the 28th (I guess the 24th has been ruled out?), and they are simply trying to figure out when would be the "right" time to release the Thunderbolt, as to not be lost under all of the iPhone hype.
He also said that their Verizon rep was in this morning with the phone, and said how INCREDIBLY fast it was and how "awesome" the new sense is.
I then went to another Verizon store (I happened to be near one), and I asked another Verizon employee about the phone and he said that they knew NOTHING about the phone [at least for the price and release date], and he said they wouldn't know anything until the night before the release (when they get the plaques\info and the display model(s))

Hope you guys are right! BB didnt tell me anything at all; but i have been reading the forum since a few days ago so i didnt feel that i needed to ask many questions- geeked!!!!

That's the problem. I called quite a few Verizon stores and you get a different answer at each one. No one knows what the heck is going on.

Verizon does find out for the most part a day or two before. Same thing happen with the Incredible! The store by me didn't know until the day before, and had to stay late after they closed to set up all the promotional stuff, and the actual phone and accessories for a launch the next day. If history serves me right they also found out they would be opening early the next day as well.
This is classic Verizon, its a lot of BS. And in no way shape or form is it up to HTC! Verizon most likely does not want anything at all to take away from any iPhone sales, and would like to probably wait the full 14 days after the iPhone release to push anything appealing like the Thunderbolt, more less to avoid people coming in to do exchanges. I'd say its probably going to be the 24th, or 28th.

I can't understand why Vzw has no idea when "their" phone will be released. I stopped by the Bestbuy on Vets near I-10 and spoke to a sale clerk. He said the TB will be released on the 14h of this month and I can pre-order one if I choose to. Then I drove to the Vzw store near the Home Deopt on Vets. I spoke to a sale rep and she didn't have a clue on when the phone is to be released. So she took my name and number down for a pre-order. It truly amazes me that Bestbuy has a date when Verizon doesn't.

I have seen no solid info of a 14th release day. Verizon will have it SAME day, BB only has exclusive over other stores (Walmart, shack etc).

This is strange. I went to VZW's site and searched on Smart Phones and then ANdroid and their is only 15 phones showing on the page but the results say 17. I then changed the filter to all phones and devices and then filterd by Android OS and it only brought in the Samsung Tab extra so now 16 devices showing but the page says 18. Wierd.
I really hope so, I really do. I'm so fed up with AT&T right now. If the TB wasn't coming out so soon I would of been ditched AT&T and bought a Droid X.

I have not seen any. Not sure about the EVO cases, find those dims, compare and you'll know. I am assuming you mean NON specific/generic?
Being a case junkie for form fitting cases, I can tell you it was a least a month before Seidio came out with one, and a few months later for Case-Mate and Incipio.
I was taking a look at Sedio site when you was probably making this post. This is the one that I will get for my TB when it is available through Seidio. This is exactly what I was looking for.

EVO cases will not fit, the kickstand is bigger , the usb port is in a diffrent locations along with the cameras .
I have my Thunderbolt case in hand and my roomate has an EVO and we just checked it out , it actually does fit the EVO just the cut outs were all in the wrong places
I'm going to get a Seidio Innocase (love the one for my Incredible) but got a cheap silicon case off ebay so I have something when I first get it
Where did you get the spare battery from? Ebay also? If so mind sharing the link?

Did it occur to anyone that the VZ employees are probably bound to silence about new phones? They are probably instructed not to comment or release any info on new phones. Either that or the management doesn't pass that info down to the employees. It must be VZ store policy. When people post that they call 3 different VZ stores and no one knows anything or gives different answers, just makes sense that they are just not allowed to comment. Just my 2 cents.

That and if they don't want information to leak you don't tell 6000 teenagers, you tell high-ups, district managers and maybe store managers at the most. I imagine for even the managers they get a tentative date at best.
