We're prepping for the Simple Minds concert this Wednesday and playing songs on old vinyl. One of their hits was the title song for the movie The Breakfast Club in 1985. Five students had to come to school for detention: "criminal" John Bender, "athlete" Andrew Clark, "brain" Brian Johnson, "basket case" Allison Reynolds, and "princess" Claire Standish. Who had your personality, what character did you recognize yourself in back then?

Me Allison, in a way, I think.

great movie... I have a little of each in me...
depends on the situation..which is in charge of me at the time

It is weird, but even after many professional 'on the job' trainings and teambuilding sessions, I still use the grouping from this movie to recognize co workers behaviour.

I enjoyed this movie, but never really identified to any one character in it. I was one of those people who had the knack operating "below the radar", and never got detention.

It's not about the detention. Its about the characters; sporty, nerd, defensive/peace keeper vs. offensive/confronting, inward/outward.
And that one unique experience; that keeps coming back from your memory now and then, or did you just walk away and never looked back?

I was definitely the brain. Smart, outcast, socially inept but not drastically so. I still identify with that, but have figured out how to find people like me, so we all feel "normal" together :-)

I was a brain / criminal sort I guess. Though I made straight A's I was required to do public service work the summer following graduation to serve off over 300 accrued detentions.

Was a very fine movie.

If I had to pick one..It would have to be John Bender:o I wasn't a criminal...but I was kind of anti-establishment...especially if I thought it was lame :rolleyes:haha!
I would lean towards bucking the system..obstinance .. breaking the rules... pretty much got away with it too!:p;):smokingsomb:

but times have changed ..so I don't think kids could pull off half the stuff we did!... and get away with it anymore...:)

I know that the movie was not about the detention. I just didn't identify with any of the characters. I played sports, but wasn't what you'd call a jock, I'm good at math and science and programming, but wasn't seen as the "brain". I had friends, but didn't feel the need to be "Mr Popular" and the center of attention....

i was bender and clark....i was a four year lettermen but i was very much into the punk rockabilly scene back then.

i was a b student in highschool so not really a brain.

in elementary.. I made "C" average
hated every thing!

in high school..
I made all "A"s
slept in all my classes or worked on my art projects
pissed off all my teachers
in to art.. and programming.. and shop class.. also tried to be a jock

hung out with the odd balls
had a few detentions and a few paddles
a few fights

Love this movie and still do. My wife teaches high school and I bought her that poster that has the letter on it and every year her students comment on it.

John Hughes was 'the man' for 80s films! And Breakfast Club is on top.
I'm not answering the question, I just want to thank to OP for getting "Don't You Forget About Me" stuck in my head.
