The Droid:Bionic can do CMDA/4LTE and GSM/HSPA+ [IMAGE INTENSIVE]

So I've been working on this for about 2 hours and no luck. I downloaded the program, completed the steps successfully, and it's still not working. I dialed that number to get to the menu and changed the phone options, it now says AT&T, but I can't make calls or text. I'm not sure what else to do to get this to work. Any suggestions?

Per the other posters thoughts, LARS is the person who can answer your question, if anyone can. I would PM Lars if I were you.

Hey guys, I see a lot of information here on changing the device to.CDMA only to disable our 4g to use with straight talk.

Now from what Ive seen everyone is trying to work with at&t sprint service, but I already bought a new device from straight talk and it runs off the verizon network.

Now I know I can get my bionic activated through straight talk I want to return this $250 phone I bought.

My phone is already rooted with safestrap and version .276
Now when I rooted my phone I found an app though an availible ROM that's on my phone called "LTE OFF" where I can quickly change to CDMA only, no other instillations required. Here's a screen shot of the app prior to opening it. IMG_20130407_160154.jpg

My question. Do all I need now is a blank verizon SIM card and to switch my phone to 3G only and activate?

Go back with radiocomm and do a read of location 1877 and verify the band unlock string is correct.

Go to system settings, More, Mobile networks and make sure the network mode is global.

Even better dial *#*#4636#*#* and post the phone info here

The question you asked is not very clear. It sounds like you are trying to insert a straight talk sim (att or sprint) or verizon sim, Lock the phone in cdma and do... something.

It is interesting that I came upon this thread because I've been considering switching to Straight Talk on the ATT network to save money and trying to decide on a GSM phone. Can this still be done on the Bionic running JB (just took the official update)? Or would it be better to sell it and just buy a new phone?

Lars,
Got a question for you. I haven't gotten around to unlocking my phone yet and I'm currently running OTA ICS Version 6.7.246.XT875.verizon.en.us. I'm being told an update is available and the version numer is 98.72.22.en.us. Android version number is currently 4.0.4.

Will installing this update change how I would unlock the phone or my ability to do so? I don't want to shoot myself in the foot for making this phone work in Chile. Know anyone who has had luck getting this phone to work on the Entel network?

And just to confirm, once I get back to the states I can plug in the old sim card and everything should still work after a bit right?

One more question, any link to find the Radiocomm program? And which version should I be looking for? I did find a download link for version 11.11.11. Will it work on win7? i'm not sure if I can find an xp comp around...
Thanks for the help.

Hey Lars, I know this is an old thread but can I still ask for your help? I followed each step from your post and it's till giving me the red "thing" when I click READ! Am I doing something wrong? A friend gave me his Droid Bionic XT875 from VZW and it doesn't have a working sim card, that's why I wanted it unlocked so I can put my at&t sim on it! Any help?

If you upgrade to Jelly Bean, GSM will not currently work.

You don't have the usb drivers properly installed from admin mode on the pc or you don't have the correct USB mode selected and USB debugging off on the phone, would be my guesses.

If you happen to have a rooted phone, there is a much easier way to do this with a simple flash file.

Lars,
Thanks for all of the direction. Got voice working and it was pretty easy, now trying to get text and data nailed down. Also the phone only shows 1 bar of service anywhere I go and wondering how I can fix that. You mentioned something about the build.prop? I don't know how to access that or what to change but any direction would be appreciated.

For the mms and data, I have using ##program and access the APN config edit then selecting my carrier (Entel PCS) from the list and saving that. Nothing happens though and i'm not sure if i'm setting the APN correctly. If I do that, should it enable data and text?

Is it possible to get the signal strength indicator working? and is that related to not having 3G?

Also the sim I am using is a 3.5G superchip which I believe is HSPA+ according to my research so I should be able to get pretty fast data once I get everything up and working right?

Thanks again for all the help.

To get data (and maybe text) you will need to program the apn information from Entel into the phone now that you have voice. You will have to get apn info from them. Selecting an apn is not needed. The phone does that automatically based on matching sim info to the apn, assuming you put it in the correct info if it was not already in there via Moto.

I have never bothered hacking the signal bar to read accurately as others have. I call or I don't regardless of what it says. You must be rooted to edit the build.prop. If you do it incorrectly you WILL boot loop your phone and have to flash it completely. The signal is the same. Only the indicator varies. The diversity antenna is not as good a dedicated GSM phone.

I regularly see HSPA and it is faster than my appetite to chew through data on my roaming sims.

Ok. To program the APN info I used ##program and selected APN settings>APN config edit. Correct? I think selected Internet Movil which is the mobile data APN for Entel according to their website. I verified that the information is the same. There is also a Entel MMS APN which I verified the info for. Once I selected the Entel MMS and am in the settings, I pressed menu and "Save". This should tell the phone to use the MMS APN correct? Is this what will enable me to use mms on the device?

And do I have to select both to use mms & data? or will one supersede the other?

Will I have 3G service without there being a 3G logo?

Again the phone will use the apn it needs based on the sim. If you have data provisioned on the sim account, data enabled as well as data roaming and the phone in the proper GSM mode you should see edge umts or 3g unless you are connected to wifi.

Beyond that, the possible issues are to fine and numerous to guess at without seeing the phone. Keep at it with patience and logic. Most people never even get close to where you have gotten so I truly cannot help them.

I know this is an old thread but has anyone gotten this to work with a Gophone sim. Att now supports hspa+ and lte on prepaid Gophone.

what is the correct way to edit build.prop

Besides the actual content within the file that you change, you should keep a good backup as well as ensure you have applied the correct permissions to the file before rebooting.

Im having a lot of trouble unlcking a Bionic on 4.1.2, long story short.

2 weeks ago one of my relatives gave me the phone for unlocking GSM bands, followed a tutorial to root, install CM and flashinbg the radion using Radiocomm and everything went p

welp.. i didn't know there's such a thing, ive done that in the past with a droid 2 global, is the flashable zip somewhere on this forum? did a quick search and didn't find it.

Ok, now my phone is a ******* mess...

First time ive tried to unlock it i used safestrap 3.5 to create a ROM slot and flashed CM 10 (the exact same ROM i flashed on that other Bionic thats been working fine) then boot into CM and i couldn't use radiocomm to unlock the radio so i posted here...

Now, since yesterday what ive done is:

deleted ROM slot1, tried to SBF latest JB from here
Droid-Developers SBF
but it fails everytime, so i had to use the one posted here instead
androidforums.com/bionic-all-things-root/480176-how-flash-5-9-905-gb-6-7-246-ics-98-72-22-jb-rsdlite.html
(98.72.22 FXZ JB (Full Version))

Now im back on stock with no ROm slots and no safestrap installed, downloaded latest ROM Manager from the Playstore, and it says i have TWRP and CWM already installed, so i chose to update CWM Recovery and select it as default recovery, but everytime i try to reboot into CWM recovery it sends a "superuser has stopped working" and it just reboots normally.

After that, i just installed safestrap again, created ROM slot1, installed and boot into CM10, installed ROM Manager and again it detects both TWRP and CWM already installed, i chose flash CWM rcovery and select it as default, then reboot to recovery, and now Superuser doesn't crash but it reboots straight into TWRP recovery.

So... is there a manual way to flash that GSM patch? through fastboot maybe? or how can i go back to a complete stock system so i can start completely fresh without a trace of root or recovery? i guess the problem is that CWM can't start because i have TWRP already installed, how can i delete every trace of it to see if i can boot into CWM just one time and flash that GSM patch... it's all i need.

hello Lars,
I am using a Motorola droid bionc xt875 and trying to use it in the Mideast on Du network. I went through the thread and got as far as the radiocomm was able to comp the 1877 write and power cycle then I entered *#*#info#*#* and changed it to the CDMA/LTE/GSM/WCDMA but phone is still not working as voice/data/or text any thoughts? any help would be appreciated

Time to find a full SBF...

If you are on JB you may need a modified build.prop. Read carefully how to do this including setting permissions so you don't boot loop. JB was worked out late in this thread:

I haven't followed or contributed since I switched phones.
