The Factory Data Reset Option

alrigh peeps, im have a major problem, and i know i have read the solutuion somewhere in the forums, but i cant find it. I just did a factory reset on my phone, and now i am missing about 300 pictures!I thought that I have read that the solution was that after you reset the phone you just open the camera app and take a picture to get tings rolling again, however I tried this and it did not work. I am at a loss. Im sure the solution is simple, as all the photos were in the dicm file on my sd card but i cant get photos to access them. also if it helpd before the reset when i would chenge wall paper, my options were to coose from andrizoids gallery, photos , launcher pro, or home. the photos option is not there now. any help is greatly appreciated

heya. sorry to hear about your trouble, and i see that there hasn't been a response : (

I'm not an expert at this stuff by any means, but I have a few suggestions... when I did the factory reset, i had a bunch of problems until i turned my phone off/on again. sounds dumb, but i use my phone for an alarm clock, so i don't shut it off at night, which means it's basically on all the time. you've probably tried that by now. you could also try syncing. i'm not sure if that will help with stuff from your sd card, but it might. do you have a file manager program that you can use to see if your pictures are still there? or hook up your phone to your computer and start poking around. a factory reset *shouldn't* change anything on your sd card, but who knows... next time, make a back up before resetting. i know that doesn't help anything now.

good luck!

Not sure if this will fix your woes but I use an app called SDRescan, it forces the phone to rescan your SD card and find all the info on it, pictures and stuff of the like. Download the app, open it, let it do its thing then hit close and exit and see if that works.

here is the link from appbrain SDrescan - Android app on AppBrain

For some reason yesterday on 7/24/10 I got an OTA update so I installed it and then restored to factory. Now I'm having problems with Facebook for sense not syncing contacts in the people app says there's 0 Facebook in the view screen. Can someone point me in the right direction.

Did you do a second reboot of your device following completion of the factory data reset?

Doing that seems to clear out remnants of little problems here and there; I consider it to be the final step in the reset process.

someone just posted about it too, this is the only confirmed incidence ive seen, and i havent had any issues with 3-4 resets a day (testing and deving :P)

I have not had an issue either. I just wanted to make sure people are aware that there is or was or could be a problem with this.

I did a factory reset yesterday, and my phone works like a dream, until I try and make a call. It says that Verizon is having a hard time authenticating my phone, anyone know any information on this? I can still send/receive texts, just not calls.

I believe you can do a *228, and activate your phone, that may help. You can also update your PRL via that *228 option.

One thing i've done when losing texting on flashing a new rom. would be to do a nandrestore back to a previous state. It was a gamble but it worked like a charm. Then flashed back to the new rom and service would work fine. Although this only happened once, I learned to keep a copy of my original Sense and a handful of others for just this scenario.

Call Verizon. Sometimes they have to do something to re-activate your phone on the network.

As suggested by the Nestor I have tried all these including recovery, clearing cache, and factory reset and with each I freeze at the reboot screen with the 3 Droid guys on skateboards. Any suggestions?
