The HTC EVO 4G off-topic Banter thread

Are you also noticing the light leakage that engadget mentioned in the dark at the bottom of the device? Does it feel significantly thicker than the HD2? Have you had a chance to experience the batter life?

i wouldnt exactly call the phone "free" that the sucker got. he paid $400 just to get in. so all in all id say he got into Google i/o for free

Well, the attendees technically got two phones for free. They got the choice of the Motorola Droid or Nexus One and then to add on they also gave out free Evo's. If you were a student you could of bought a Academia ticket- $100. I should of done that lol.

i honestly didnt even see it until i read the engadget review today, ill check mine tomorrow when i get to work (advocate devices have to stay at the store until device launch)

the battery life has actually been pretty decent with heavy browsing and messing around on it. its only slightly thicker than the HD2. It feels great in the hand. very solid

Agreed. I wish I had registered for $100. There's always next year! :)

Any chance (I know this is a stretch) of you plugging some iphone headphones in and seeing if you can pause/play/skip tracks using the mic button?

Oh no! please watch the recent reviews for that question!

There is no extra charge, only native android Qik is available not the one particularly for the EVO.
Doesn't work for now.

SWEET! I need to find a sucker like that! :D

Personal review... quick!
Yeah I will do a personal review in a bit. I just got back from dinner and charging the phone up now...
How much did that cost you if you dont mind me asking?
let's just say i got it for sprint retail price minus the tax. GOOD DEAL?

considering someone paid $5000 for the iphone prototype, i think i got hell of a deal
How much did you get it for?

Also are you able to do video reviews on it?
answered above. i will try to do a video.
It was a lot wasn't it? Lol.
not really. read above

Will you check Sprint TV and verify whether or not FOX News and MSNBC are in the line up? Currently, those channels are only for Sprint TV Xtra subscribers (I subscribe)....but I heard rumors premium channels were included because of the $10 data fee. I kind of doubt it, but figured you could verify for me. Thanks in advance and gratz on your phone purchase! :D

Did you have to activate? And if so, does your sprint account now have the $10 charge on it? I don't know if you do, but if you have any corporate discounts on your account, can you confirm/deny if they discount the $10 fee?

Maybe you can take an video/pictures of this in a dark room? Thanks for answering our questions.

Does it have Swype on the phone? A sprint tech support rep last night tried telling me it had Swype and Skype. And he said it came with a screen protector so I don't trust anything he said.

But he said he had gone to a meeting that day and how Louisville Kentucky where I live was getting 4Gin November when Miami rolled out. And he said EVP people usually do get the phone early. But who knows. But I am glad to know it's easy to type on the keyboard and that speech to text works good.

Congrats, I think you may be the first among the community here with an EVO...I'm jealous :D looking forward to your review.

I just bought the Evo also, mine will not be here until Saturday. It has to take the 3,000 mile journey from CA to NC. Same price as retail. A lot easier waiting a couple days versus 2 more weeks. Thanks to the OP, I would have never though about the conference phones going up for sale. By the way, I got mine on eBay. Keep hitting refresh on newly listed. When you get one for $450 or less, buy it! I have 6 months left on contract, so I was gonna pay $450 either way.

i don't have a HD2 to comment on this. no i did not see light leakage on the phone. the brightness and the color is more brilliant than the Touch Pro2. That's all i can compare to right now
