The HTC EVO 4G off-topic Banter thread

Thanks. I guess I will be picking a screen protector up then. I also think I want to get some sort of hard case for it, even though that will cover up how great this phone looks a bit!

If you could let us know if the phone maintains its speed after installing a lot (let's say about 20-30 apps) that would be great!
seriously need a case! and uhh that camera lens flush to the ring kinda sucks. i'm scared to scratch that glass!

I know u cant upload right now but would you please do a 720p recording at you lighting condition and give us some feedback? Is it too choppy? maybe a little too compressed?

Yeah the camera lens sticking out like that is definitely an interesting choice. I kind of wish they would have done something different with that. I'm glad they didn't design it like the Incredible though. The back of that thing is hideous.

I really know I have more questions, but I just want to play with the dang phone lol

HAHA. yeah!

:p

Okay, NO ONE seems to have the true answer to this question so hopefully you do......

What is the video playback framerate...25fps? 30fps?

Thanks!!

:)

I know that none of the review units had the updated qik program. Does your phone have the version that they showed at the POP event? (The one with the 2way video chat)

msnbc
espn
fox sports
fox mobile
weather channel.
~~~~~too many to list
I think you misunderstood the question, he wants to know if you automatically get the extra Sprint channels that you normally have to pay extra for. The reason being, there is speculation that by paying the $10, you would get the extra SprintTV channels.
Please open SprintTV > Premium Channels > SprintTV Xtra.
If you get a message telling you to subscribe, then we know you don't get those channels included. If you don't get a message, then HOORAY.
Not sure if the EVO is different from the standard.. but what I've heard so far is stock with android 2.1 is 10fps and Froyo (2.2) will be 20fps ... but don't quote me on that :)
Android 2.2 Changelog: Camera and Camcorder
New preview API doubles the frame rate from ~10FPS to ~20FPS. Camera now supports portrait orientation, zoom controls, access to exposure data, and a thumbnail utility. A new camcorder profile enables apps to determine device hardware capablities.
You make it sound like 40 is ancient. I'm sure there are a lot of 13 year old consumers running around, but it is likely that folks around the age of 40 are the ones actually developing the new technology.
Yeah, as someone who is 42 and works in technology, I'd have to agree with this comment.
Too bad I'm still feeling old. ;)
the camera lens would touch the surface it was laid on only if the opposite end was propped up, making the front (screen side) level. when it's at an angle (like it would be simply laying it down on a flat surface) only the lens bezel would make contact.
...right?
i'm not saying it won't scratch b/c it's not recessed, but placing the phone down shouldn't do it. i'm getting a case, regardless.
Dolphin Browser rocks with Flash Lite 4 :)
Can you confirm that EVO has FLash Lite 4? Go to flash.com and the browser will tell you what version. If Flash 10.1 shows, you have Flash Lite 4 :)
coming from an windows mobile phone. this andriod device has got to be the best phone i've used in my life. i've played with my friends iphone and nokia, but non of them is as fast and as smooth as this phone. i've yet to see any kind of lag. the applications that i installed was done quickly over the web and i don't have to load those stupid cab files like windows mobile. also the best thing about the phone is not having to shut down individual programs after your done with it
I'm incredibly jealous. lol
I'm wondering the same thing. I really really hate cases so i'm trying to avoid using one but if one of you with the phone can comment on whether the full lens rests on the ground when its laid down i'd appreciate it.
This image is the best I could find showing what you guys are talking about. Looks sort of inconclusive to me.
Is an invisible shield needed? If the back is matte and the front is practically all glass, why get one? The matte battery cover on my Pre (for the touchstone) hasn't really scratched since I got it.
