The HTC EVO 4G off-topic Banter thread

I see the different PN on the battery, compared to the Hero/TP2, but are the Evo/TP2 batteries interchangeable? I haven't seen this answered yet in this thread.

Nevermind...I found the answer. They are interchangeable.

Has anyone who purchased this from someone at the event know or asked Sprint if it's possible to add insurance onto this? Thanks in advance!!!

If you are currently with Sprint, and you have insurance on your line, it will just transfer over to the Evo. Not sure if you don't already have insurance, and try to purchase it with the Evo activation, though.

Hey HTC (and everyone else) I know we have established that there is an LED light on the front, however, can you confirm whether or not it does notifications? I haven't seen anywhere where it has said if it does notifications or not. Also, is it customizable in any way, ie color or number of flashes?

TIA

I have a question for the opp. The Eris has this feature were a call comes in and you can turn the phone over and it will silence the ringer. Would you be able to try this out??? Just curious if this phone has that too.

Thanks!

So since I have never been on Sprint and switching from iPhone to the EVO... with Sprint TV I noticed you mentioned ESPN as a channel. So can you actually watch live ESPN channel as if it was the same thing on TV via the phone? Games, sportscenter...etc all live?

Already ask but think it got over look. The qik app, is it the normal app or the two way app?

Trying to figure out if sprint is charging for this. Thank you.

It is the normal app, been confirmed on other posts I have read form others that have the phone.

Is their a notification light on the front of the Evo for text messages or e-mails?

As a semi obsessive sports fan and espn lover i'm wondering the same. Never used sprint tv or had a phone capable of doing this kind of thing. Getting rid of my Moto Q on the June 4th yay, so i'm wondering the same.

Someone tell us more about sprint tv.

I personally don't like Sprint TV at all. Last time I used it, it's just pre-recorded stuff that they have available to view. It might've changed since I first got my Touch Pro, but I found it to be completely useless because it didn't stream live programming.

Since the EVO will have flash enabled (and full flash on FROYO), I'd suggest going to atdhe.net, if you want to stream live sports.

I think you misunderstood the question, he wants to know if you automatically get the extra Sprint channels that you normally have to pay extra for. The reason being, there is speculation that by paying the $10, you would get the extra SprintTV channels.

Please open SprintTV > Premium Channels > SprintTV Xtra.

If you get a message telling you to subscribe, then we know you don't get those channels included. If you don't get a message, then HOORAY.

I asked about this to begin with. Still no answer? Geez.

I think some of the Sprint TV content is actually live. I saw a Chicago Bears interview live on NFL network channel from my phone and the TV.

sprint tv def has live channels as you wld see on your television...disney, nfl network, espn, and plenty more...this is why i'm not happy that the sprint tv app has been getting poor evo reviews...i just knew that 4g and snapdragon would make this kick azz

OOOOOOOOO ... AM I JEALOUS!!!!!!! I am soo hitting up Ebay if they're on there going for $400-$500. I have to pay retail anyway.
Good luck... it was easier for me to buy one on ebay because everyone who went to the Google I/O was in San Francisco. and majority of the people who came are still in SF.

Good luck with ebay. Most of them were going for over 700.
Good luck because it's going to be hard buying from ebay.

I got mine for $450, but you got to keep hitting refresh on the newly listed. They are going fast. The I/O phones will not be around long.
you got lucky
Any reason in particular that you are saying that I have to get a case/screen protector? I would prefer to keep it naked like I have with my iPhone for the past 3 years.

It doesn't have a oleophobic screen like the iPhone?
it has a touch capacitive screen. i'm very anal about my phone and i feel like i should buy a case to feel more secure. the build quality is nice and strong, but i don't want to risk cracking the screen since there isn't much bezel space around the border of the screen.

Really? I didn't see your response on that. Searched for your different posts and couldn't find anything. Mind linking me?
i believe i posted it on the first post. check original post #1

hmm. i know there's a charging light... as for notifications, i need to go through all the settings and turn it on before i can test. give me one sec and i'll get back to you.

don't know to be honest, i will have to test and see if there's a option to enable this

have not signed up for qik yet so i think i'll register and get back to you on this one

sorry, i don't keep an eye on the forums 24/7 since i'm a student!
The Yankees/Red Sox game was on Sprint TV the other night (via ESPN) live.
that's cool. i will check out the TV feature. it might not be included in the $10 even if i confirm because the phones given @ google I/O are fully loaded in terms of add-ons from sprint. unlimited just about everything, even hotspot

Thanks for the idea @ htc.evolution. I'm currently bidding on 2 Evo's and at the moment, I'm the highest bidder on both.:D

I can't see if someone has asked but how strong is the vibrate function?

Also, how quick is the portrait to landscape transition? Or are there sticky spots if you hold at 45 degrees and try to go from potrait to landscape?
