The I got 2.2 from T-mo Thread ...

Yeah the official update is not out but the CR_Mod_2.13.531.1_OTA ROM is 100% stable I have had it on my slide for over 2 weeks and have not had one force close. My only complaint is that it seems I can not install as many apps for whatever reason.

There is also NB_Mod_2.15.531.1 revision1. Its the 2.15 update with tmo apps removed and bubbles removed from nest theme. Check it out.

*make that most tmo apps. Still has wifi calling and hot spot.

From that post: "This ROM does NOT contain:... Genius-button related applications ...

I love the idea of ditching that huge turd of an app. Does this leave the "g" button as dead space? Not that I'd mind - I don't use it anyway - but I'd love to reassign that to Vlingo which works much better and is massively faster for me.

I almost wish this update wasn't lurking so close to being (apparently) ready for release. I'd been telling myself that if 2.2 wasn't available beginning of '11 I'd root it and install CM, but now we're being teased with the official update being right around the corner again. :p

If it's like the other geniusless ROMs it remaps the genius button for google search.

Ditto, although I may do CM6. I'll probably try both.

Not my rom so no worries! Just add the genius app back from cr_mod to fix that issue. The phone cycles because the button had not been remapped so when you push the button the phone cannot complete action.

Do you know what it's labeled as because I can not seem to find it.

vsuite.apk & VSuiteApp.apk

Would I be able to place certain apps into the ROM prior to installing it?

Such as the blue market or the motorola connected music player?

I think I will stick with the CR ROM and just delete certain things such as amazonmp3 and the app pack

For the most part yes, but there are some apps that will not install as system apps. Don't know about those two apps, but it won't hurt anything to try. Just keep in mind that even if they don't install they will still take up system memory so if they don't work make sure you remove the files from /system/app.

So much for that idea.

For some reason now when I try booting into recovery and I click install update from SD it says "E: failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (no such file or directory) E: signature verification failed Installation aborted".
And that was without tweaking any of the rom.

I just can't get into clockwork recovery.

I did delete the "update" folder but I added it back and still no luck.

Will I have to use cmd and redo the rooting process?

I still have root.

What is all of the system info for the complete stock (before the OTA update that t-mobile sent out months ago) I somehow unrooted myself completely.

Ok that is what I figured I just couldn't remember the name for it (champion).

I do not have root anymore.... I never downloaded anything to do with this and since it is in a way a Mytouch Slide software version am I safe to send it back for exchange?

So will having a non rooted slide with 2.18.531.1 on it void the warranty?

I can't adb push exploid anymore to reroot it for some reason I can not figure it out. I have tried 2 slides on 2 computers with 2 SD cards with no luck.

The phone will not load the ESPRIMG file anymore (I used the alternate file as well with no luck).

I did it successfully before I don't see what I am doing wrong.

The slide with 2.18.531.1 is a total piece of junk. Loose hinge, creaky body, dust under the screen...... you name it it has it...... I really want to send it back in but not if its going to cost me $300

So is there a trick to rooting from 2.18.531.1?

Whenever I try I can't get past the ./exploid line I turn on wifi and type ./exploid again and it does not ask for a password.

I have now made 2 slides go to 2.18.531.1 and they both do the same thing.

There is no 2.18.531.1. Do you still mean 1.18.531.1, which is what you said in post 145?
Fyi 2 at the beginning =2.2, 1 at the beginning =2.1
