The idiot test

Is a zebra white with black stripes of black with white stripes? Bonus internet cool points if you can explain why.

guess: because it is 50/50 shot..

white ... with black stripes.

guess at reason.
white hair ... pigment is added to make it black. therefore.. white first.

First part right, the second part is how you determine the first part. Where they don't have stripes they are white. ;)

Their skin underneath is totally black, and their embryos are initially solid black before becoming patterned (with pigment production being selectively turned off only in some cells). My answer is black, which white and black fur stripes.

I'm heading to Gettysburg for a camping trip in a couple weeks, so a history themed question.

What was Ulysses S. Grant's middle name?

Hiram's middle name was his spoken first name of course, which for an Irishman I'm sure I would have known by heart at some stage and would not have needed to cheat.
For those with tired Google fingers, Senator Morris of Ohio entered S. in error when assisting Grant's application to West Point and Grant later reluctantly deferred queries to his mother's maiden name, and that of his brother, of Simpson, . but all you Yanks knew that and the rest

(curious about the Beethoven one which I won't look up)

What are the next two letters in the following series and why?
W A T N T L I T F S _ _

Well, as a moderator I could have edited your post to say "Noah", but it's a little known fact that Moses did include some small plastic animals in the Ark of the Covenant so the kids had something to play with in the desert. :p

Can't get one past you today, huh? :D

I lobbed that one to ya so you could show off yer backhand

Captain Frank and some of the boys were exchanging old war stories. Art
Bragg offered one about how his grandfather led a battalion against a 20 tank
German division during World War I. Through brilliant maneuvers he defeated
the 20 and captured valuable territory. After the battle he was presented
with a sword bearing the inscription "To Captain Bragg for Bravery, Daring
and Leadership World War One From the Men of Battalion 8" Captain Frank
looked at Art and said, "You really don't expect anyone to believe that
yarn, do you?" What's wrong with the story?
