Man.... I just got an S4, but an unlocked bootloader trumps technology any day in my book. If it's only $300 off contract on VZW, I'll bite.

Somehow when VZW gets involved, it turns into a mess. Remember the whole Nexus thing with them and exclusivity?

If that happens here and VZW has to have like a 30 day exclusivity window or some crap like that then we won't see this thing until Sept and the reason I'd say is because they will not let a stock phone like the X release along side they're marketing darling Droid series of phones.

If this all happens moto will have shot themselves in the foot IMO. That's the price of doing business with VZW.

I'm just hoping that Google bypasses all this carrier nonsense and just does a release through the play store right away within a week or two of the announcement....lol, wishful thinking!

that might be what happens the play store as for vzw i expect bloat
 
I get a kick out of the euphoria for custom colors. First thing I do is slap a case on a new phone... whatever color case I want... which like Henry Ford's originals is always black.

I do...I'm usually on Diztronic's website ordering a case 2 weeks prior to even getting a new phone...However in the case of the Moto X

I think I'm going naked...And here's my reasons why?

Moto may have really gotten it right with this phone, and I say that because of the materials that it looks like they're using.

First off there's no rear glass a la iphone 4 or nexus 4, no brushed or shiny metal (plastic) or whatever wrapping around the phone...So another words nothing to really worry about getting all scratched up. The rear cover looks to be a dull matte weave of plastic which looks like it wont be a slippery monster like the GS4.

And honestly I'm really digging the look..Similar to the Galaxy Nexus which to this day is one of my favorite phones size and look wise...

I think I'm in on getting the X, my only heartache will be picking colors...
right now i'm leaning towards a total stealth grey, or black with that classy rear white cover...We shall see
 
I hope I have the willpower to wait for a Nexus. Even if the X has a unlock bootloader exploit Motorola will lock it down befor warranty expires. I like to unlock and root as my warranty is coming to an end in case my new phone is a lemon.
 
Any time I've put a case or screen protector on a phone I pretty much immediately take it off. Don't like the added bulk for no gain... have yet to crack a screen.

More than anything it's frustrating how much VZW store guys try to terrify you into buying all that crap, as if not buying a case means your phone will explode the minute you walk out the door.
 
The only way I would put a case on this phone is if someone makes one that has a battery included. And that would only be if the battery life of this phone isn't enough for me.

I also hate screen protectors but I actually prefer a phone to be bulky. I used to love the feel of my tbolt with extended battery & case. Prolly an inch think!

I hateeeeee Verizon employees and they're ridiculous tactics!

A few months back I got my mom an iphone 5 for her birthday and I got into the most gigantic fight with the rep over me buying her a case. I told her I already ordered her a case on line and that I was good, it was as if I cursed her out and told her to drop dead...the way this girl came out me was absolutely insane. Oh you need a morphie case, the battery is terrible, you don't care enough about your mother to buy her a good case or a screen protector, what kind of a gift is an iphone without all the stuff you can buy here. I WENT NUTS! Basically told her that if she was a guy I'd take her outside and twist her into a pretzel.

They make me sick the way they try to sell you accessories, I mean all the carriers are like that these days...but VZW takes the crown for most ridiculous.

Just installed whats claimed to be the Moto X camera app. Anyone tried it? I only have a dropbox link so pm me if you want the apk :thumbup:
 
Speaking of cases. All these companies are advertising my phone is thiner! No, our phone is now thiner! Consumer buys phone then puts case on it that could easily double the thickness. Read:I couldn't care less about thin phones.

Yep, take that lack of girth, fill it with battery, and be done with it. I want girth and heft with my phone dammit.
