So, I order mine on Monday with the email they sent out (actually paid a friend for hers, since she didn't want it...) and I will be getting my phone on Monday the 26th. So much for "early" like they stated it would be at first. I guess the early part was only for Motomaker access itself.

Wasn't misleading, just a failure to deliver. Official word from Moto is these shipments ARE delayed. You were supposed to receive on Thursday.

If they are missing their 4 day shipment time by double (8 days for me from what I was just told) with the limited selection of pre-orders selected from AT&T, how in the world are they going to meet the demands from people ordering today and next week? Good luck getting those phones out in a timely manner.

I don't think they can. That is why there are limited ways to buy right now. I can't wait to get it still. That phone feels as small as an iPhone in hand with a 4.7 screen. In my limited time playing with it the screen was very sharp.

So I don't know how, but last night I somehow was able to get through to Motorola.com/motomaker and design and place an order at about 10:30 central time. I was not one that got an email from ATT nor did I have a card with a pin from ATT. I was also able to pay full retail for the phone which I'm seeing people are not having luck going that route. Guess I got lucky. When is it supposed to open to the masses directly through their site?

Thank you for letting me know!! Very "glad" to hear this. As long as they get it to me on the 26th I'll be happy, because that is my "Friday."

Edit: Just got the email which stated they were building mine today! Woooohooo!
 
I still don't know how I got so lucky.

And look at the delivery date, wow!!

I'm not really that impressed by the selection in Moto Maker. I mean, I understand the wood backs MIGHT be out by the time Verizon can customize its phones... but no metallic gold trim? Just yellow or orange? I am rather disappointed.

Nor do I want some personalized "Hi there Chief!" boot screen. Try to sell that in 2 years. Go ahead. One can hope that a toolkit will be developed to unlock and root it, but I'm not holding my breath.

And the limited wallpaper selection is just sad. A raspberry? Really? That's what I gave it.

Call me mean and a buzz-kill (it IS Friday for most of you, after all), but Moto Maker is very much a bummer for me right now. Let's hope it improves greatly in a very short span of time.


EDIT: To get back to EarlyMon's suggestion about the thread ending (which it will as-is very soon), what if we re-name it "The Moto X General Discussion Thread" and just keep it going as a catch-all for general... well, discussion?

Not necessarily a watering hole-type "lounge" thread, but a specific phone-oriented thread for those non-specific issues and observations. Just a thought...
 
The AT&T store I was at were great to try and get me mine full retail. They went so far as to try and add a line and cancel it. That being said, on the bottom of the scratch off card there is a number to input for outright purchase. However, AT&T's system kept rejecting it. They tried to get me to do Next with a new line, but I just wanted to buy it. Anyway, the code is there, but the system rejects it right now.

Sorry I suggested it. This is really going to continue to be off topic because that's been allowed all along - and - this isn't the Lounge, that won't be fair. (And please don't start another watering hole.)

It's the end of the 23rd, release day.
