The ONLY way to remove apps??

The only way to remove apps like NFL Mobile Live and Nascar and whatever else you'll never use is to mess around in the ROOT file? No way! Will they do it for you at the Sprint store???

Signed, Hopelessly Inept and scared of messing my phone up...

Umm, no. :) There are two ways to uninstall, neither involving root.

1. Go into the Market, select downloads, find the app you don't want anymore, and click Uninstall. 2. Go into Settings>Applications>Manage Applications, find the app and uninstall it from there.

You can't get rid of those, just ignore them. Maybe try the app called startup auditor to block them from opening.

My phone is rooted. I uninstalled the app with the app manager but the icon still shows up and it is still taking up some (less) space on the phone. Where are the files located? Folder name?

Which app? If its a built-in system app, the apk is in /system/app. If its a user app its in (if i remember right lol) /mnt/sdcard/data/apps (im not sure about the last one lol ill have to have a look :)

What phone model? Some devices have additional nand security, so you won't be able to remove system apps that easily even with root (though you can through other means). HTCs for example need to be "S-Off" as well as rooted before you can do it that way.
