The PRIME is Back!!!

Really hope they stick with this, so much better sounding than galaxy nexus. If the rumored $799 price sticks looks like I'll have to be adding another line to get the discounted price.

Do you know how many BOXES they would have to reprint and repackage? These phones - and LOTS of them - are likely sitting in distribution centers. I cannot see this name changing this late in the game. Gotta be a typo or a miscommunication.

This could be the delay.

I also have a second horrible thought...
Google made them rename it because its not truly a nexus device anymore

That is frightening beyond comprehension. VZW would then be free to bloat it as they see fit, eating up into our 1GB of RAM with about 400MB of crapware

So because its not a "true" Nexus device, Google made them change the name from "Galaxy Nexus" to "Nexus Prime"?

I think more likely Best Buy screwed up the ad.

Or, maybe they want to separate GSM model (and it's reported problems) from the LTE model. Hence, call the LTE the "Nexus Prime" and call the GSM the "Galaxy Nexus".

Also notice at the bottom of the add it says...

"Prices good at all Best Buy Mobile stores from 11/17/11-12/25/11."

That would indicate a release this week.

Why does verizon hate its customers so much

How do you figure? I'm still not sure what Verizon has done wrong in this whole thing. They are offering a GN later this year. No reason for us to believe it's a locked down, bloat machine either. Are people really upset that they are getting fully functional versions as opposed to the UK version with the volume issues? Be happy that Verizon is testing these things to make sure our experience is as good as possible. I'm sure some of the reason is also a marketing strategy but there is no doubt they're still testing these.

People keep forgetting that Verizon already announced this as the Galaxy Nexus. They have a Galaxy Nexus sign up page.

Is someone really going to believe a BestBuy ad? Really?

Someone has probably mentioned this but...

If you search "prime" on vzw it takes you to the Galaxy Nexus sign up page. I thought that was sort of strange.

I'm not at a computer so i can't check but it was said if you search "nexus prime" that it takes you to the sign up page. Which would lead me to believe that the sign up page just has the tag "nexus" in it. Or they possibly tagged "nexus prime" because that was a well known name for the device pre-release.

Last time i was on their site, their was a banner that said "GALAXY NEXUS". And now people are keying on tagged search phrases for speculation. This is just another example of looking past the obvious to create something out of nothing. A la the 16gb LTE model.

Oh yea, I fully believe it's nothing. I just thought it was strange vzw would tag "prime". I mean, it would make sense to all of us but they haven't exactly been very on top of making it easy to find information on this phone.

Eh i don't think it's all that strange for them to tag that. What else on their site could possibly bring about the "prime" search?

Don't get me wrong though, I like the name Nexus Prime more. Obviously the name doesn't matter to the end experience but i do think it would help it sell in the US and Verizon would be smart to differentiate the LTE version with 32gb from the hspa+ with 16gb. Kinda like the "Nexus S 4G". Obviously that's a smaller change but still. Carriers like to differentiate their products from one another. Looking at their press release, it appears they are full on board with the name Galaxy Nexus. I'll just need a lot more than a Best Buy ad to sway my opinion.
