Just a place for us rooted users to hang out. Custom rom chatter rooted app recommendations mods and other cool stuff welcome here. Tablets and phones welcome here.

I will request that no questions pertaining to the act of rooting your device be posted here since there are many devices and methods and scenarios to achieve root. Please check out your devices dedicated forum for how too.

Cool idea i will be joining the root club in the coming weeks as i have an old galaxy s hanging sround that i am going to de some experiments on. JHust to get a feel for the whole process

Okay, to get things started, My S3 is running liquid smooth RC 8, though I am thinking about checking out that Hellfire rom if my sister (also running the same) don't want to check it out. My N7 is just rooted and custom recovery as is the One X. Both phones have Nova prime launcher running on them. The N7 is using stock launcher.

Nice! My EVOV4G is running Harmonia, its s-offed and has the Go Launcher EX. I really like its transitions, any other app have them? I also have a burning question pertaining the touch screen, ever since I rooted and flashed Harmonia dual tapping my screen made continuation useless. For example games like SAS Zombie Assault how you have the moving area and the aiming, well if I move while aiming also my screen stops detecting my fingers until I retouch it. That wasnt a problem before the root.

HAH!!!

The Samsung Galaxy Camera has been rooted!
Now how long before we see raw file format instead of compressed jpegs? Or even better, uncompressed (raw) HD video? If that happens, I would buy the thing!

I'm not rooted on my S3 but I was on my Portal, I kinda wish Google would look at some of these alternative ROMs and learn a thing or two. I know the dude from cyanogen was meant to have had some input into ICS but still, there are tons of tiny things that could be implemented to make the UI easier/more powerful and friendly. If only...

I have an HTC 3VO, rooted Hboot 1.4, S-OFF, Recovery 4EXT running Len-Flare JB Version 2.99 And I am a Flashaholic, The first key to recovery is admitting it LOL ;):D

Hey all! I rooted my Evo 4G back in Jan. 2012 after about 4 months of having it.
Funny, I new nothing, I mean nothing about rooting or what even that meant.
Started to look into it some more, and thought, hey, why not?
I joined back in 2010 when I first got my Motorola I1 Android phone.
But really started to hang out when I rooted my Evo. :)
My specs are in my sig. Love root, and I'll tell ya, every device from now on will be rooted soon after purchase!

Rooted my HTC EVO 4G about a month after I got it. I've been root ever since. I now have the HTC EVO 4G LTE Rooted and am currently running JellyBomb on it. Such a fresh install that I'm still in process of doing it now ;)

I never even waited with the ELTEVO I charged it and rooted it as soon as it was out of the box.

Rooted my HTC Desire about a month after I got it (gave a little time in case of manufacturing faults before voiding the warranty ;)). Why? Not the usual reasons people give (mainly storage on the Desire) but because I knew I would have to eventually in order to keep software updated - I never expected more than a year's support from HTC - and if I was going to sooner or later, why make it later?

Running a very stripped-down Gingerbread (ROM < 60MB, credit SUroot :)). Occasionally think of trying ICS on the phone again but not convinced it's worth it on this hardware.

Can I imagine using an unrooted phone in future? Not for very long.

I'm a rooted user at heart. Can I just hang around with the elite until I get mine going? I can park the cars, get the coffee and other useful stuff.
:o

Still have two devices not rooted: HTC Flyer and my Prime.
However, the rest are all ROM'd. Got the bug when I had my OG Droid. Was a much bigger deal to root back then. Now it seems everything is a 1-click away. :)
Running CNA on my Nexus 7 and Sourcery 3.1 on my Gnex. (Impatiently) waiting for some modded Android 4.2 based ROMs. Looks like 4.2 is throwing some kinks in the chain. Jelly Belly is out but I like some certain tweaks that I can't get from stock (have to have search key, centered clock and battery mod). Pretty sure they can be flashed separately but I like em built into the ROM itself.
Love the thread AJ, hope you're hanging in there with Android. :D

Rooted my Desire HD 3-4 weeks after I got it. Did it to remove bloatware and, ya know, because I could!! :)

The phone is rooted and S-Off, running IceColdSandwich (and ICS custom ROM)... just not had the time to try JB on the phone... others in the DHD section have though, so I know the hardware is capable, even though HTC won't release it. Their excuse reason is that, to run JB on the phone, it would require a repartition of the system (or something like that), which would result in the loss of user data. They've even said that, for advanced users and rooters, this is understandable/acceptable but that the majority of "normal" users wouldn't be happy. Guess I understand their reasoning, but why not release the source code, so that ROM devs can work their magic and we could have JB on our devices without the bugs?

Recently ran an RUU to update to the most recent radios (simpler to do that and re-root by flashing a recovery as an update in HBOOT)... stuck with Stock unbranded HTC for less than a day, before heading back to IceCold! Guess I just don't like Sense :o

rooted the htc hero.. was my first

got the OG evo and it was rooted a few days afterwards.. had to make sure it had no bad hardware.

my next device.. what ever it might be (currently looking).. will be rooted too..

I root therefore I am. :D

Don got me rolling on the Hero, then it was akazabam and EarlyMon on the OG EVO. Now I'm on the EvoLTE, rooted and loving my phone!
I rooted as soon as it was available, S-off took a little longer than I liked. I bricked and un-bricked like 6 times before I got it to stick. LOL

Well worth it!

I did not know Google hid the developer options in 4.2!

But someone found it...

Go to settings, about device, find your build number - its jop4oc then spam click it 7 times. Yes. Seriously....

What does it mean to not be rooted? :p ;) :)

My device CV:

1. HTC Droid Eris - my first root! May '10
2. Moto Droid X - July '10 (rooted still use it as a wi-fi only device)
3. Moto Xoom - March '11 (rooted, passed down to my son)
4. Samsung Galaxy Nexus - Nov '11 (rooted, still my day-to-day device)
5. Asus Nexus 7 - July '12 (rooted before first proper boot ;))

Great thread! :)

HTC Inspire 4g (international Desire HD)

that's one kicking phone for developement! Most people agree that the phone is long past it's due date, HTC has dropped major support for it (pretty much doesn't acknowledge it any more), but the developement is booming for it. The latest official release is android 2.3.5, but there are custom 4.2 ROMs even.

I'm rooted currently running Blackout ICS desensed- which is basically android 4.0.4 and sense 3.6, then with most of the sense stuff removed (mostly the launcher, rosie, and the widgets). I like HTC sense well enough, but I prefer the look of AOSP ICS so I prefer going desensed.

The I4g has 768mb of ram, and around 610mb actually accessible. It's a lot compared to some phones of the same age, but to modern phones it's nothing and you notice it. Usually I'll run the Supercharger script, which does wonders.

Cpu is 1.0 ghz single core. Sometimes I'll OC but not often (with sense ROMs I'll usually overclock to overcome the bloat, usually to 1.2 ghz or 1.3). I haven't noticed any changes in performance when OC up to 1.5, all it does is run my phone hotter. Certain ROMs for my phone can 'safely' (relatively speaking of course, YMMV) OC to 2.2 ghz, but again, no realy performance change from 1.2 ghz at first, and after that it really starts heating up and runs way slower- by then I'll have clocked back down and rebooted.

My wife has an iphone...so does my son...so does my daughter...so does my coffee cup:

Works fantastic!:)
