The Tablet Tavern

My wife told me that, as it's international women day, she is not cooking when she gets in tonight.

I said fine... don't think she realizes that means that I'll be getting takeaway! :)

* wondering what's the legallity of bringing beef sweets into the United Kingdom?

What's on your agenda, Mike?

Mainly to see friends and drink real British beer. :) I've not been back to the UK in over two years. Probably going to be shocked by how much things can cost. I'm used to paying equivalent of 10p to ride on a bus, or 50p for a taxi.

I'm going to be staying with an old school mate in Bristol, which is my home city. I'm not going to be sight-seeing, I've travelled all over the UK previously. I've seen pretty much everything. Don't think that Tower of London or Stonehenge has changed much. ;)

I'm flying from Hong Kong rather than Beijing, which is nearer, because I'm also going to be spending a few days in Shenzhen and Zhuhai seeing friends there.

Last time I was in a British pub, I tried buying a round of drinks with a 100RMB note. The landlord saw the picture of Mao Zedong, give me dirty look and exclaimed "What the hell is that?!"... LOL

I want to be married:(

It's not all it's cracked up to be if you are getting married because you want to be married. I went that route the first time and ended up in a BAD marriage. Be patient, wait for someone who you can easily see yourself spending lots of time, good times and arguments with. Sorry for the lecture but I don't want to see anyone go through what I went through

I completely understand and I appreciate your concern:) I guess it just makes it harder because I don't want to marry a Chinese guy like my parents want me to.

According to all the stories children are told, that should be easy. Just wait foot prince charming to come and get you. Dwarfs may be involved. ;)

Lol. I met someone but I don't know, lol. It's much more complicated because I want to marry a foreigner. I may need to move to another country for it lol

Here's a question, phone related. What's the best value carrier pre-paid for a few weeks in the UK, calls and data? I was thinking probably Tesco or Asda Mobile. Because China Mobile roaming would be rather expensive. I've got a dual SIM phone, so I'll keep the China Mobile SIM going for any incoming SMS.

That's a SIM only deal though... no phone included!

It is on a monthly rolling contract... call up and make the payment sort of thing!

I've stuck with Orange... get home broadband through them, so wanted to be sure that I keep the cheap price on that.

A year's contract @ only

Bionic - launch day - $300
Gnex - launch day - $300
2yr contract ~ $200 a month for 2 phones, 400min, unlimited data, unlimited texts.

Yeah, not cheap. :(
