3 grand for having mild flu and watching movies and playing games for nine days? Doesn't sound too bad to me. The quarantine would be the worst part.

OT isn't really good for a company. We discourage OT even though we do have employees who want more than their fair share of it for the $$$.

In many places in the EU OT is not only frowned upon, it is illegal.

Of course, you could always go for a salaried position which means you can work 20 hours one week and 80 the next ... all for the same pay. Trust me, it doesn't work in the employees' favor most of the time. ;)

Here in the Netherlands 36 or 40 hours/week is considered a full time job. Not many have a second one, many work even less.
Law says it is illegal to work more than 52 hours/week in one job, on a regular base. Only season labour is allowed for more hours, since it is just for a few weeks, to get the harvest in for instance.

Oh looky what me got last weekend :D

They are beautiful, Kaat, but isn't giving tulips to a dutch girl like a butcher giving a pound of liver as a Christmas gift?

Haha, no way! These are the first Dutch grown tulips for this season, from green houses. Extremely early, due to the extreme mild winter here. But please don't think the fields are all blooming yet. I LOVE flowers: tulips, hyacinths, and peonies (in May), oh those are the best :)
We live in the middle of the flower bulb area, and when all those bloom... :D:D:D

Aren't peonies the ones that get covered in ants? My personal favorite are iris, but they bloom so briefly, it always seems that I miss enjoying them.

In the oil industry overtime isn't illegal its mandatory. When I was hourly it was a bad week to only have 52 hours. I have a friend who works in completions and he spends two weeks at a time on a well then gets a week off. Gets paid for his entire time there but he could be up for days at times if he has no help.

Or you could be like me and get paid for how much oil is sold. Technically salary but almost like piecework.

The nature of our work does sometimes require ot especially at month end.

Tavern news! Hear hear! :)
France lost it's solid first place as top wine drinking nation. Last year China beat them, with 1,800,000,000 bottles.

But they were drinking Chinese wine, so it doesn't count. ;)

Mike, if you are around, what's the best wine in China and do they export? I'd like to try some. :D I've been really impressed with the wines from Chile lately.

Good evening everyone. :) I am enjoying a glass of Gentleman Jack on this cold wet night.

I got my fair share of OT, being a service technician. We had on call for a week at a time, on rotation. I didn't mind getting called out after hours, because I would get paid from the moment I was called until I got back home. That would make for a nice bit of money with some accounts being over two hours away.
