The Tablet Tavern

Thing is I love Jethro Tull, one of my favourites, and I probably just wouldn't even bother with a solo Ian Anderson concert.

Kind of goes back to the "Solo Monkees" thing I posted earlier. Presumably Mike Nesmith and the whatever session musicians will be doing Monkees classics, like I'm a Believer and Hey, Hey We're The Monkees, etc.

But that's the thing, Solo Ian Anderson was NOT Jethro Tull but everyone wanted him to be. Daydream Believer was the 1st 45 I ever bought. If it's not a scratchy, warbly chunk of vinyl with Davy Jones on it,it is NOT Daydream Believer!

So you blame me for wishing I was born 45 years ago, musicwise? I am critical as well but am convinced certain artists have talent and that is still there.

I don't dispute their talent only that their only notable achievements were when they were young. I *know* what they did 45 years ago (I was there :p) I want to know what they are doing today (besides trying to pretend they are still 20 years old.)

Now, if you want to study them from a sociological, or historical point of view (or, depending on who you are talking about, an archaeological point of view ;) ) like the significance of Woodstock or the Free love Movement in San Francisco, then by all means don your tie-dyed jeans and flowered headband and knock yourself out. Just don't become one of those people who, when we were listening to Hendrix and Joplin, bellyached that only Sinatra and Crosby was the only decent music.

My name is kinda giving away my year of birth. My top (in random order) most certainly includes Janis, Jimi, Pink Floyd and Led Zep. The rest lies behind imho

We going to her favorite Trattoria. They do a mean bruschetta. :) Anybody want me to bring them something back in a duck bag? (My doggie won't let me use the other kind.)
