The Tablet Tavern

I stay away from Sony anymore. They are nice, but they use proprietary components to the extreme and over-design the bejeezus out of them to the point that only they can work on them ... at prices that would make Apple blush.

That sounds like Packard Bell

The Vaios seem to be priced very much like Apple, that's for sure. But I don't think the old Sony quality is really there these days. Not like when I had my built like a tank C6 Betamax VCR. And their warranty service sucks, in the UK at least.

Sure Sony lost it when their founder, Akio Morita passed away and Howard Stringer(not Japanese) took control.

I am finding my tablet quite useful. I used to carry an eBook that I had loaded system manuals on it to use at work. I wish I had a full tablet then.

If I could get a first generation nexus 7 to do what I wanted it would be perfect for my car

I stayed away the the Nexus tabled. The lack of the sdcard slot bothered me. It limited me to the choice of a 16gig or pay quite a bit more for a 32gig.

Having the sdcard slot makes it easier to expand and transfer files and side load stuff.
