Root The Triumph Experiment Thread (CAUTION!)

BSydz

Android Expert
Hey guys, I figured I would start this thread to get some much needed resources for the devs working on the Triumph. This is my first post but I have been around a while, I'll get the links straightened out when I get my post count up.

I was a fool, and flashed the Cherry Magnum HD 2.3.4 nb0, so now I have a gsm Triumph, for a few weeks. Everything works smooth as silk except the phone portion, no fc on anything that I have tried, games like nfs shift are smooth as can be and have no graphical artifacts at all.

I am not here trying to get help fixing the phone, though any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I have fixed the phone and there are full instructions here.

I will be installing every gingerbread to ics rom that I can find and making nandroids of the ones that work, with out too many issues. I want to get as many working hardware files as I possibly can for the hard working devs trying to get our phones to the next levels.

Here's a little back ground on what I have done so far after I jacked the phone. I have officially flashed every triumph rom i can find, and in every triumph rom and triumph recovery the capacitive buttons are like the magnums, the prl is mostly 8888, the baseband is only read from custom roms (long form) and the HD rom (PR5), the activate disappears, unknown mobile network type, out of service, and mobile network disconnected.

But the capacitive buttons are assigned correct for the device in the magnum hd rom, but it was not, until i flashed a couple stock roms then back again with the nb0.

Things I have tried to get the phone working: I have changed the build.prop, edited tons of files with root explorer. I tried both stock image folders through download mode, but with both it shows download mode text with any button combo, but only connects to the computer in actual download mode. I am trying to mesh a optimus slider system folder with the nandroid i made, but having trouble with md5 mismatch, even on good nandroids. I'm using cwm 5.0.2.6.

Sorry for the long message, I just wanted to give you some resources that may possibly help with your work. I know how time consuming this stuff is. Good luck with your work.

DO NOT FLASH ANY OF THESE NANDROIDS THAT I POST, I WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY BRICKED OR NONWORKING DEVICES. THESE NANDROIDS ARE FOR DEVELOPMENT PURPOSES ONLY!

This is a bare as possible nandroid of the Triumph on Cherry Magnum HD 2.3.4 nb0 with correct capacitive button assignment: Cherry Mag HD Triumph Bare Nandroid(no phone).zip

WOW! the first gsm triumph lol you really skrewed i think unless you can flash to stock change the prl to sprint get your mdn your number and the other number idk what its called lol you pretty much tabletized your phone to only have wifi lol

Yeah I know, I'm not the first though, back in 2011 somebody did it and isaac asked for a nandroid but I never saw one, so i decided to get the community rolling with some gingerbread hardware files. I have tried prl swaps, got into the phone through qpst. On triumph roms my phone number, meid and esn are all there, but the networks won't connect, and in the other roms it doesn't show cause it is looking for a sim card, but shows an imei, that does not correspond with any thing I can find on the phone. g60madman thought the nb0 might have flashed firmware for the radio, which I think is correct. But I think it changed more than that. It reminds me of when I flashed the sprint intercept rom and it changed the baseband.

So, anybody with an x6 variant that is reading this and wants to root their device easy, just install cmw recovery and flash Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip. I used the triumph cmw 5.0.2.6 but I also used the cmw fbo version the first time with the Magnum HD rom to get the nandroid. Good luck.

edit: late April fools.

Definitely not an april fools joke, but I did it on march 31st, and on april 1st I sure did feel like a fool, for sure. But I figured, I've been wanting to start trying to get more dev experience, and nothing beats jumping in head first. lol. All of these nandoid backups are definitely for real. Just got the Sharp SH8188U firmware installed but am having issues getting the recovery to boot so I can root it and do a backup. This is the first FB0 nb0 to not look for a sim (searching for service), and shows my number and meid number, but prl is 8888. I am glad I have another phone to look at cause i was lost in the other language til I changed it to english.

I just bricked this thing, it was giving me an actual blue screen after boot logo showed for a second. Couldn't open any recovery, nothing would boot. Spent an hour or so trying everything I could from download mode, nothing worked. So I used SUT LR to flash the spice 410 nb0 and it booted right up no issues at all. WHEW!! Man I thought I was dead in the water. Now to try the sharp nb0 again this time from a stock rom. lol. Looking for a Triumph nb0 that I can try from SUT LR to maybe flash it back completely stock. If anybody has any suggestions post them or pm me, this is anything goes, I don't care if I do brick it.

It is not bricked, The image folder backups never booted for me, the 38 or 39. It is not bricked, but it was for a minute, all the pixels on the screen went bright blue. SUT LR reprogrammed the phone, and it booted fine. I had stated that I did brick it until I used SUT LR. The Sharp rom will not let me change the recovery, once I change the recovery it goes blue after I try to boot to recovery. First time I installed the sharp nb0, I went directly from spice 410 rom and then installed recovery to root it. that is when I "bricked" it, but after stock flash and then sharp nb0, it would only blue screen when I tried to get into recovery, but would boot. I just flashed FB0G_Andro-ID_V3.3-RC3, bout to back it up for mantera. Thanks for your replies guys.

Hey mantera, what do you want me to confirm working on FB0G_Andro-ID_V3.3-RC3. The HDMI works here are a few pics, sorry that the intercept has a crappy camera.

I see that you have no service--as expected. But does the camera and everything else work?

We'll have to try his files in our roms to see if it helps camera and hdmi in cm9.

Thanks for taking the plunge! :)

Edit: Also, I think after putting andro-id on there via sutlr, you might be able to now change out your recovery and do the normal flashing in cwm.

This is the WellcoM-A99(2.3)-V318E Triumph back up. Everything works like the others, except the phone/data. I am pretty sure all these x6 variants are gonna work I am just trying to saturate the dev community with data for the hardware files and have something to compare with.

Again, DO NOT flash this nandoid backup it is intended for development purposes only!

Excellent. Thanks. and good job on getting tj_style's permission first. :)

Thanks, this is only my first thread on this community, used to mess with my Intercept over on sdx, I know how it goes. That is why I was focusing on stock roms first.

Does anybody know if any x6 variant or close to, has an ics stock rom? I'm too tired to search any more today, I have like 30 tabs sprawling my two monitors, that I want to read before I start other stuff.

I don't think that there is. There are only up to GB stock roms anyways. Then there is cm9 which is what the MT's cm9 is partially based on. If I find one, I'll be sure to let you know though.

Well if it is supposedly working on any x6 variant, point me to it and I'll try.
