At the risk of repeating Ditto, I can't see any reason to cancel a pre-order in the hope of getting one faster in a store. The risk/benefit suggests in the best case you'll get the phone a day early but in the worst case you're canceling a sure thing to then wait weeks for the supply chain to refill. Why do that?
 
I think the back order takes into account the fact that stores already have their allotments set aside for shipping. When is the last time that a Verizon store had ZERO phones upon opening their doors on the morning of a launch?

I have the morning off of work on 10/10. If this doesn't ship to me tonight, I'm canceling in the morning and will stick my nose to the front door window until they open up.
 
Thanks for everyone's thoughts..I called on my lunch break, none in stock, I'm gonna call again on the 9th, I don't mind getting it Friday if it ships on the 9th, its getting it Monday that will really tick me off! Hopefully it will ship later today, or tomorrow and it won't matter. thx again
 
My credit card was just charged. Hopefully that means the phone will be shipped out today or tomorrow and I'll have it in hand by Thursday the latest (2-day shipping).
 
My card has still not been charged. I hope they charge at same time as they ship. Will at least give me an idea.

That likely means a ship date of 10/8 with an arrival date of 10/10. Except people like me who are close to a distribution center: we might get ours Wednesday! :eek:

I am more worried that the gold iphone 5s on the same order will hold up my order. The iPhone is backordered till 11/11
 
I cannot imagine why an Apple backorder would affect your Samsung pre-order. There is no scenario in my mind that would play that out. Each phone is separate and has its own order queue... so if I were you, I wouldn't worry at all about an iPhone backorder :)

How do you know where you are in relation to a distribution center?
 
I'm wondering since my debit card was pre authorized with a date of 10/10, that it won't ship until the 10th.

I'm in upstate N.Y.and I was charged.

Edge price of $78 and change. First months payment and tax.

Edit: the rep said I would get it the ninth or tenth the latest. Take with a grain of salt.
