The8Pen keyboard?

I can't figure out how to get my 8pen off of ALL CAPS.

I can press the up arrow in the bottom left corner and get it to show lowercase, but as soon as I start (typing) it goes to all caps. This is the new free version. The day it came out I tried it out and didn't have this problem.

I'm sure this is a face palm deal, but I sure can't figure it out.

It might be the "Shift Pressure Threshold" setting. Try setting it higher.

BINGO!
It was set too low for me to be able to not elicit a cap letter.
Looks like I won't be able to use that feature. The slider bar that moves automatically with pressure- it does change that much between lightly pressing it and hard pressing it.

I couldn't get it, just seemed counter intuitive. Then again I don't like swipe either, and use the compact qwerty. I guess when I see someone one hand txt faster than me ill look for alternatives.

I don't like Swype at all either (or similar) and type better on a regular qwerty keyboard, but since it's free, I may try it for a bit and see if I like it any better than Swype. We'll see !

Ok, I decided to give it another go around (not because I disliked it the first time, I just didn't have the time). After the updates, it's very good! It still takes a lot of practice but I really like the preview window and once I learn the key-layout I will turn that off. The gestures are really cool too!

Those of you on the fence, give it a solid attempt. If you still don't like it, maybe it isn't for you. I think I'll stick with it though!

(all the simple errors with Swype were driving me CRAZY)

I don't text very much, and currently if I had something large to write I'd use voice or switch to the regular keyboard, but I like 8pen. Maybe it's because it's a bit like doing a puzzle (and I like puzzles). Certainly getting faster as I get used to it.

So I've been using it for a couple days straight. I guess its disadvantage is obviously that gestures are longer to make than single-touch buttons. You can be deadly accurate with 8pen, though, especially when you customize the control visuals to your liking.

Anything new or a change requires a certain level of open-mindedness. I downloaded this yesterday and see the potential, but it requires the time and patience to learn a new system - some people, it appears, have neither.

Will stick with it for a week and see how it goes. Otherwise it's back to Ultra Keyboard for me :)

This:D

Have had this for about 3 days now and, like a few others have said, I am finding that I am getting quite good at it. Developer did a nice job on placing the most used letters in the closest positions. I use stock or swiftkey for longer text/emails but for the majority of the time, I use this. Now that i know where most of the letters are, I dont need to lift my thumb when using it. With a fluid movement this thing is quick! If you set it as a default for a day or two, it shouldn't be too hard to pick up...just need a little muscle memory :D Pretty fun as well (the process of improving)Glad I stuck with it.

Droid Life posted an article on it. Most people complained that it was a fee at the beginning and not enough people could try it out and comment on bugs or stuff that needs to be fixed. I downloaded it once it was free just to see how it works out. I have swype and as most swype users are, i'm addicted to it.

Very cool. I literally just sent a suggestion (via the contact link on their website) to allow automatically switching from 8pen in portrait mode to a "normal" keyboard in landscape. And within 2 minutes, received this reply:

Hi,
Yes, in the next release, there will be a keyboard switcher for immediate change. Hope you can wait just a little :)
Best wishes,
Michael

I just used the Swype keyboard for 5 minutes and I definitely like it a lot better than the 8pen. Way faster and easier to use.

i just wanted to say if you watch the video without sound it is very slow. lol. quite annoying

I kinda like it & am getting better with it. I do keep switching back to swype as a default tho. QWERTY keyboard 26 years - 8pen 6hrs.

Same. Once they removed the fee I tried it out but too much of a learning curve when I have the Gingerbread Keyboard and Swype to contend with. Swype really is an addiction!

8pen is well designed. I gave it a quick test and uninstalled it, but mainly because I finally got a SWYPE beta invite. I think 8pen is a clever keyboard, but I do not have the time to learn it. I will probably give it another go around the new year.
QWERTY keyboards are extremely inefficient.
