Root [THEME] Android 4.0- Ice Cream Sandwich v 1.0 (Velocity 1.2)

Re: the indexed color mode, i thought that's why, but if i edit it like that and save it, will it save wierd? i tried changing the color mode but it still looked strange. and you can't open something in another color mode outright. that i know of.

my idea is to have the same battery icon but add some more steps in the graphics so its smoother and better represents the levels, and also add small white text to show the numeric level.

just want to know the best way to edit them in photoshop since it's the only best tool i have. but since it looks strange, it's not ideal. how can i edit them while they look correct?

Here's an idea that may or may not work: Open the dead battery in paint, and save it out. Then open that in PS and edit, and then switch to indexed and save it out as the indexed png. I cant say whether this will work or not, but it's worth a shot. Let me know how it goes. I would love to have smoother and accurate batteries.

i also noticed that when the battery is charging, besides the icons animating strangely and stutteringly, the vel1.2 stock battery for 100 with the circle appears. but only when charging. once it is fully charged, it doesn't show that anymore. just the solid battery.

i am almost done with the smoother battery, there will be 100 and 100 for standard and charging. i will have a version with numbers and one without.

Here are the numberless smooth icons. 0 to 100 for each. i'll work on the numbers next.

update: here are the ones with numbers.

all these icons were made by hand, except the ones that came with ICS, which is like... 10 of the 202 or something. and the numbering was done with automated photoshop... finally figured out how to get it to work.

see if this works.

UPDATE: files removed.. better ones down below...

Ok, so comments on my battery icons:

1. the numbers are like an eye chart (very small) but it looks clean, and it is readable. but the battery icon is so small compared to the available space that the numbers had to be small to look good.

2. during charging it only uses certain icons and doesn't go all the way like the UOT kitchen battery would. I can't only think that it is because there is a script somewhere that tells android how many animation icons to use. One possible but real obnoxious way to fix that is to 1. either use the original vel1.2 framework-res and get a 100/100 battery from UOT, flash that. Then apply the velocitymorph. or 2. get the framework-res after the velocitymorph and use that for UOT, and then reapply the velocitymorph with the new battery, at least then whatever script it needs will know to use 100 animation charging icons...

UNLESS someone knows which file to edit to make it work

ok, so finally got it all working great... but i had to do my backdoor procedure because i couldn't get the xml battery scripts to work.

what i did was take the stock vel1.2 framework-res.apk to the UOTkitchen, made a custom battery with smooth discharge and charge so it would give me all the icons and the scripts to make them work into the framework-res.apk. flashed that. then went to the ICS velocity morph that i modified (only by adding the battery icons i made) and applied it. reboot and the discharge is smooth and has numbers. and the charging is smooth and goes from the current level all the way to the top nicely!!!!

so... i wish there was a better way, but i don't know which xml's are really needed. i thought i had figured it out but it didn't work. so whatever.

J2COOL,
attached are the modified velocitymorphs, and also the icons themselves., use them as you please.

Actually the error is "sdcard/velocity/morphs/manifest.txt No such file or directory exists" i dunno what im doing wrong..

Make sure you put the zip in the "VelocityMorphs" folder on the root of the SD card, NOT velocity/morphs. that's the mistake I made originally.

Yah i did. I still get the same error. Im running scripts 39 is that my issue? The error i get everytime i select Change Themes is this.

/sdcard/velocity/morphs/manifest.txt: No such file or directory

thats the same issue my wife's phone had. i updated superuser, reboot, and tried again. i also copied from my working phone the manifest to where it should be. not sure what helped, but it was unable to update the script until i did the reboot and all that. it's a problem with not having root access and also not having read/write permissions. not sure what to say.

after running the new battery with the numbers, i thought maybe too small, so i made bigger numbers. try it out.

j2cool, probably want to use these instead. they are attached.

You need to force-Update your scripts to 42. A lot of the mirrors that make the scripts work have died, so it has nowhere to pull the manifest of themes from. Check out the scripts thread to find out how to force update. I would normally link it, but i'm on my phone. Someone help?

export PATH=/data/local/bin:$PATH ; su -c bash
bash-3.2# velocity -fu
Mirror savox.darkxshadows.net selected...
cp: target '/system/bin/velocity' is not a directory
chmod: /system/bin/velocity: Read-only file system
bash-3.2#

The error i get when i try to force it. And yes superuser is fully updated and working as far as i know. There are no updates on market or its scripts. I dont get it.

you can but i don't know the command. if you have oi filemanager (i think it comes with vel1.2) or root explorer, you can go to the system folder and click read/write or whatever. that's what i did, dont knkow if it helped.

I like the SPB shell as well. I just wondered if your getting the cant load screen especially if using widget locker.
