Root [THEME] GingerFusion3.9 *Bluetooth Fixed 1/26/2012*

Thank you for the suggestion tried it and it didnt work.

Thats exactly whats happening its not bluetooth thats force closing its settings thats force closing and interrupting the pairing.

Im guessing you were already paired with your laptop before flashing the theme so you didn't have to repair. The problem is only occurring when you try to pair to a new device. But it could also be that this doesnt affect laptops because playfulgod also said he had no problems with his laptop. In my case im trying to connect to other phones, headsets, keyboards and cars.

Actually I was not already paired with my laptop before I flashed. I just tried pairing it today for the first time.

This might actually be part of the issue. This theme was ONLY made for Gingersteem Extreme and Gingersteem. If you are on any other ROM then it can definitely cause issues.

However, depending on Klex's results, I should be able to figure it out

The settings.apk I swapped out was the stock but deodexed. I don't use Bluetooth but to test it out I went and dug out some of my old phones to pair with and got the same message. Swapped out the settings.apk and rebooted and pair right away. Swapped pics back and fourth between phones and all seems well.

SUCCESS!!! Doing exactly what you told me has fixed the bluetooth problem. I love you man (no homo). I just paired with 3 devices no problems whatsoever. This is beautiful i get to keep your dark blue theme and have a fully functional phone. Please pm me your paypal details i would like to donate.

So it seems like the problem is the Settings.apk?

If anyone else confirms that the Settings.apk is the issue then I'm pretty sure I know what the issue is and should be able to fix it in about 20 minutes.

I cant tell because im no expert but i can say that your solution above definitely fixed the problem in my phone. Hopefully kanaida and the others with the problem can try it out and confirm.

Ok so here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to take the stock Settings.apk from Gingersteem, retheme it and make sure everything is good. I'll upload ONLY the Settings.apk here for you guys to test it out. If it works, I'll put it into the full theme and update the OP so all other people will need to do is redownload and reflash the theme and bluetooth should be fixed. Hopefully all goes well!

OP has been updated with the Bluetooth Fix.

Install Instructions:

Download Bluetooth Fix in the first post

Place on sdcard

Wipe Cache Partition

Wipe Dalvik Cache

Flash zip file

Reboot!

I don't know about anyone else, but this definitely didn't work for me. It wouldn't boot past the LG screen. Not even a boot loop. Just a black screen. Maybe I did it wrong, but I had to boot into recovery with the (+- power) and restore my backup. Tried it twice and the same thing happened both times.

I did take the settings.apk from Shinyside's post and applied it to the system/app folder and that did allow me to pair.

Thanks to all for the fix!!!

All that was in it was the stock settings.apk from Gingersteem. Link pulled.

Thank you all for helping us with this Bluetooth issue, I swapped the file as recommended and it pairs withe everything now. Special thanks to ShinySide for posting the settings file and making things easier.

I'm glad I will be able to use this badass blue theme, thanx spc_hicks09.

I have another theory. :D

Have you by any chance changed the sound effect for pairing? i heard it on the regular gingersteem rom, and it plays right before pairing password prompt comes up. I'm wondering if maybe that could be it, corrupted or missing (since it was ported right)? as i'm assuming no code was actually changed in the settings apk.

See that's what is confusing me. All I changed was the 15 icons you see when you go into the settings menu. I changed absolutely nothing else. I just for the life of me can't understand why it's only happening to a few people and not everyone. I have another possible solution though that I will be uploading in about an hour to see if that works. I'm really sorry you guys are having this issue.

Sorry I haven't got around to the update yet. It is coming though. I work a 26 hour shift tomorrow so it will most likely get finished then.

I think it may be more prevalant then first reported. I have a feeling that people assumed that pairing to devices that don't require passwords or potentially already had a saved pairing meant that bluetooth worked fine, and the percentage of people who actually use that feature may be pretty low as well. Because after people started trying to pair to another phone several more people said it didn't work.

I may be completely wrong though. Just a thought.
