Root [THEME Sleipnir][7/12/2013] [BlackIceS_VIII for Sleipnir]

So far, running the odexed version is really good. No problems except the ones you've mentioned. Hopefully you're working hard to fix it, and you continue to develop themes/mods for our phone :)

Thanks, glad you like it. Yeah download and music are done, Bluetooth and phone are next. I will release an update by weeks end. :)

Sleipnir, when you download it, is deodexed. Normally, however, when you flash it, it odexes itself so that once it has been installed, it is odexed. Deodexing makes theming easier before you actually flash the ROM onto the device, and odexing makes accessing of the system apps quicker because they're already partially decompressed. This way, you get the best of both worlds. I'm guessing that Stark was theming post-flash, so I went ahead and made a deodexed (post-flash) version for him :)

In other words, De-odexed means all system apps are .apks, fully compressed. Odexing creates a .odex file associated with each system app .apk, making them partially decompressed. This allows the device to access the app's data more quickly, because it doesn't have to decompress the full app before reading it (part of the work is already done).

Hmm. Thanks for the very detailed explanation! You cleared a lot of confusion up for me. :) Would you happen to know why I get a force close notification for the status bar after the initial boot? (running off of the odexed version of your amazing rom) Thanks again!:)

If you're using my theme that is expressly for the deodexed version you will get a force close. If you want to use my theme install the deodexed rom. I will no longer be supporting the odexed version.

Anybody flashed it yet?

I have, but I ran into a few problems at first. Some are just minor "style" problems where some are legitimate problems that have bad effects. Firstly, I got an "android.statusbar" force close the first time that I booted this version of your AMAZING theme, lol. It didn't show the status bar after I dismissed that notification, but the status bar reappeared when an app started to update. That's when I ran into my first "style" problem. I was really digging the sleek and thin battery icon you had going on the previous version, but the rather large icon in this version was a tad bit cumbersome, and the loading icons for videos and such were a bit too bulky for my taste. Facebook and my Android Forums app wouldn't load until I uninstalled them both then re-installed. Thank you for your incredible work so far! I hope that I don't sound too whiny or anything! I was just excited to see more of your awesome work come out, but was sad when it didn't work out as expected :/

And, again, thank you sososo much. :)

Crap, that was a typo. I had just flashed the deodexed version then installed the latest theme. Sorry.

Odd findings...Ive not had the status bar force close issue. You did install the deodexed ROM from post #10 of this thread before installing the theme right? Did you wipe cache and dalvik per instructions? As for the battery its stock ics size for mdpi with the dpi hack and percentages. Looks exactly like the stock cm9 battery as relates to style and size...so I'm a little confused there. The spinners are standard size and I've not noticed them being odd...I attached what it looks like on my device ...Please provide me some screen shots and a logcat if you can duplicate the statusbar issues. Provided its not an erroneous install. Thanks for the feedback.

personally I prefer the battery bar in the odexed version versus the one in your screenshot, but as soon as I get the chance, I'm going to flash the deodexed version :D

New mms theme, any thoughts?

[Test 2] for the deodexed rom, at this point I'm pretty happy with the images throughout. Next is the XML edits for a few remaining apks with dark notification text. Follow the install instructions in the OP.

Those screenshots look awesome - I love the theme so far! ... yep, you've definitely got the magic touch with theming - I'm only able to just modify framework-res and SystemUI without much issue (can't seem to get the other .apks to work after recompiling for some reason). Lol :)

In any case, your work is quite impressive! Rock on :D

Thanks for the kind words. It's definitely coming along. There's some hickups here and there but it's definitely going to be a decent theme in the end I think. :) if you're having issues with anything other than framework and systemui...

If you're getting errors make sure...

To install framework, place a stock framework-res.apk, the 'apktool.jar' from the 'others' folder in apktool and also a systemUI.apk in the root dir of C:\, then open a command line and run:

Code:

java -jar apktool.jar if framework-res.apk

then

Code:

java -jar apktool.jar d SystemUI.apk decompiled

If you're still having errors...
(In apk multitool)
1. Make sure your path has no spaces
2. Your filename has no wierd characters
3. Java/adb are in your path
4. It's not a proprietary rom's apk (aka Sense,Motorola,Samsung) (If u are, then use option 11 and drag the required framework, eg com.htc.resources, twframework-res...etc) 5. It's not a themed apk (if it is, expect .9 png errors, use as close to stock as possible)
6. Look at the log to know whats happening.

Happy moding (:

So i really enjoy the look of this theme, good work. The only reason i don't have it installed is because when i flash it and boot, everything looks fine and works great, but it has deleted my messaging app. I tried making a shortcut before flashing thinking maybe it just got hidden in the app drawer, but that just said app not installed when i clicked it. I followed the instructions word for word, tried reflashing it multiple times and tried v2 and v3 with no luck. The messaging app is there and works fine on stock sleipnir, but once i flash the theme is when it goes into hiding.

Sounds like you're on the odexed version.

Any simple way of making this theme back to stock colors? I love the theme but it's just that constantly looking at the blue neon text on black backgrounds gives me a headache. I appreciate all the work you've put into this theme and prefer it over the stock Sleipnir theme. I'd like to keep using your theme but its just to dark for me. If you could possible help me out or even point me in the right direction, i'd greatly appreciate it.

The most simple way would be for you to use UOT theme kitchen to change the text colors. The manual method requires a lot of tools and the amount of modifications already done to the framework and systemui will likely cause recompiling errors. So if its a issue of the text colors just try to use the UOT theme kitchen.
