Help These double text messages are annoying

How annoying is it? I get double sometimes triple text messages. Some people think its handcent, nope its the X. I had the EVO, N1 never had this issue. What gives?:mad:
 
I don't use handcent but I'm pretty sure there's a setting in the app that disable double messaging. I highly doubt its the x cause no one is having this problem.

A few people I know have the same issue. The dups show up in the stock messaging UI. So if there is a setting to disable "double" notifications please let me know where it is......
 
are the messages coming from people that are on another network in particular? i have seen that problem coming from certain other carriers.
 
So are you saying you're getting the message in both the stock messaging app and Handscent? If so, just turn off the messaging notifications.

Messaging / Menu button / Messaging settings / Text messaging / un-check notifications

No no no, I receive the same message twice. No matter what app I am using or not using. So I obviously get the notifcation each time I receive the same message.
 
disable/freeze one of the messaging app through titanium backup.. I'm pretty sure you have 2 different messaging app running at the same time as it happened to me.. for example for me i had (Messages 2.2.1) and ( [SMS/MMS PREFS] Messaging 2.2)
I disabled/freeze (Messages 2.2.1) problem fixed... hope that helps you

It's not two notifications, it's two actual messages. I even deleted all messaging apps but the stock messaging app from my phone and it still happens. I did a factory reset on my phone which worked for about a day then it came back again.

Same issue as original poster. Two messages. Happened with and without Handcent, ChompSMS, etc. Turned off all notifications in all messaging apps (including stock). Uninstalled third-party messaging apps. Totally reset X. Nothing worked. A message would arrive....I opened the messaging app...the exact name message appeared twice. I was never able to find a solution. It simply disappeared when I moved away from stock ROM and installed various other ROMs (Darkslide, etc.).

Thats for people who are rooted, I am not. Any other suggestions?
 
When I was on AT&T and my GF was verizon she would always double text me always seems to be verizon she would only send once but at times it would triple and sometimes send 4 times its quite annoying hearing your phone go off repeatedly that quick. Only happens to me with other verizon customers and now that I am a verizon customer too It prolly happens on others ends too? Just my thoughts.
