Root TheUltimateDroid 2.0.0 !

Well guys, tried LFY1.9 and it just ate my battery. Rolled back to my UD1.0 backup. So I'm back on the UD team. :) The question is, how is UD2.0 coming along. I have a couple kids so a working camera is a must. Have they come up with a fix for the camera issues? Any other issues with 2.0 I should know about before I upgrade? I've read the thread, just wondering what everyone else things.

I had a number of issues but my main issue with UD2 - and the real showstopper - was bluetooth calls. It would either play music or make phone calls, but not both. No audio in or out via bluetooth. That sealed the deal for me. If you don't use BT, it might work well for you once a camera fix is in place (may already be there).

I have yet to have a single camera issue (still or video) using 2.0.0. Frankly, I'm a little baffled at the reports.

i did however get my facebook to the most current one so thanks for that! i came from Simply Stunning. was leary to leave that cuz i LOVED it. however so far this one blows it out of the water.

i thought i saw somewhere that i could longpress on the home button and it would be a shortcut to new messages?

i just see a lot of cool lookin tweaks on here that im not sure what they do...sorry if these are noob questions. but u guys normally answer and get me to where i need to be! thanks in advance

So loaded up Chevy's 1.2Ghz LV and so far battery life is back to being stellar. Not sure what Slayher's was doing to my phone, but the few days with it, it was the worst battery life I've ever had.

if you want to add a permanent message shortcut to your home button, go to UD settings -> Input settings -> long press home settings -> use custom application -> select application. of course you could also add it to your launcherpro shortcuts on the home screen by long pressing any of the icons and changing it to your SMS app.

and governors, in a nutshell:
*performance - keeps your processor ramped up for optimal performance at all times
*interactive - tries to anticipate your actions and scale up your processor just before you actually need the speed
*on demand - scales your processor up only after it has recognized a need for extra speed
*conservative - increases processor speed only when absolutely necessary
*powersave - runs the processor as slowly as possible to conserve the battery

Ok, I am really liking this ROM. I have noticed no bugs, and everything is smooth. I have noticed that nowhere does "Verizon Wireless" appear. When I ran my previous ROM I had my favorite Bible verse instead. But there is no carrier to replace. Is this the same for everyone else?

If you're talking about the lock screen, the Verizon Wireless was replaced by Ultimate Droid. So, edit the eri.xml file within framework-res.apk file and you can add your favorite Bible Verse. Well, within limitations. You can only fit a certain number of characters (16 if I remember correctly) in that certain space.

Thanks! I suppose there are instructions to do this?

I should probably edit what I said before. You are actually editing an xml file within framework-res.apk.

Sorry.

Once I find the write-up on it, I will post it here.

Ok, I found it. This is much easier to understand than anything I could write up. Here it is: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-hacks/57078-how-edit-eri-xml.html

And always remember to make a nandroid backup before editing or changing any files.

This is even easier. It also allows you to change on the fly.

Customize the status bar on non-source rom - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

If anybody else wants to get rid of the little black boxes on the lockscreen, you can do so by replacing the lockscreen_backgroung.png located in system/framework/framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi. I use a blank .png of the correct size.

I knew about that one, but I personally like doing (most) things by hand. This gives me a better understanding of what exactly is going on.

Werd, ma brothah! WERD!!! :)

I get so sick-n-tired of people wanting apps, or quick-n-easy methods of doing things. Especially when they miss out on what they could be learning by doing it by hand. Well put, my friend.

On the other hand ... "differnt strokes for differnt fokes". Some just want the end result, and the faster/simpler the better. (Of course, then they can't wait to brag how "they" customized their phone, all the while not knowing what the heck they really did. :D )

Exactly, I agree on both parts. And as you said, some people don't care what is going on in the background as long as they get the end result.

Luckily there are enough people who do learn that we are able to help when things go wrong.

So, I've been playing with this ROM for more than a week now and am loving it. I haven't even flashed a theme yet, though I have been thinking of flashing the 24K theme.

I understand and appreciate that, but I like to change the message depending on my mood, so I find it easier to run a script an reboot. It is something I can do on my morning commute (bus) that I wouldn't have time to do otherwise. Everybody assumes that these type of things are keeping people ignorant of what is going on, but it is just as likely IMO that this piques some peoples curiosity to find out how to do things by hand as well and see what is going on underneath as well.

So you need to replace it with a blank .png? Or can you just delete the lockscreen_background.png in there?

I just installed UD 2 and wiped and all but I seem to have trouble signing into gchat. It just shows me the signing in screen and then kicks me out. I can't view my friends or get past that menu.

I tried clearing data but that didn't do anything either. Any suggestions?
